I inherited two model 11s one in twelve gauge and one in 20. I think they're probably from the 1930's. Im having problems with both jamming when ejecting shells (Both high and low brass 2 3/4) . Anyone know of a simple fix or should I see a gunsmith?

I was also curious if anyone made a slug barrel for a these guns.

Thanks

As a Gunsmith by trade I can tell you the Remington Model 1 is a great shotgun. The problem you are having is typical for a shotgun of that age. The extractors lose their "memory" or temper and the shell casing brass doesn't catch fully as the shells eject. Your problems can be fixed easily by a qualified Gunsmith and will not be expensive. Extractors are still available from several of the larger parts distributors,in addition most good Gunsmiths will also replace the extractor spring at the same time. These guns were manufactured before slug barrels were available for Remington guns.

Put in new extractors; and replace any springs at same time. For a slug barrel use your google; you may have to buy a full length one and have it shortened as I don't think they were manufactured way back when.
