The benefits are purely aesthetic, so if you like the look, get layers. If not, don't.

With your hair being that long you'll get long layers. If your hair is thick or heavy and is it would lighten the load. It also gives you some styling options. You can keep your length and just try them out. If you like them great go for more. If not let them grow out.

I just got mine layered today, it ooks REALLY CUTE up in a ponytail because it like feathers down when in a high ponytail and its very popular and in style right now. the "Straight Across" look is so '90's, no offense, if i were you i would be running right to the salon!!

you get movement in your hair that a straight across won't give you.
you can get the layers done in ways to make your style really pop when you straighten it or tease it up.
i always get layers now

It will give you a nice look instead of your hair all one length.
It also adds a bit of volume and it just looks nice with any style.
