the damage if any is minimal. if you color often and don't condition properly then you get damage.

i bet the honey and lt brn will really pop against the dark hair.

Okay you got me there, what is a non permanent highlight. I have been doing hair for well over 30 years and all the highlights I do are permanent. As far as the honey blond and light brown highlights over dark brown/black hair, if they are done thin and in a natural flow of the hair they would look rather nice. The chunk highlights I would say would be screaming look at me and seem out of place. If you are going to do this I would bleach your hair up to at least a level 9 for the honey blond and a level 7 for the lite brown. The key to the highlights is placement.

No, non permanent highlights don't damage the hair. I wouldn't do the honey blonde, depending on what level brown/black hair you have you would end up with an orange color instead of honey blonde. If your hair is dark brown use the light brown for highlights, same with black, whatever color hair you have using a shade lighter of the same color will look best and be more natural.

Yes, there will still be damage since you are still putting strong chemicals on your hair, but I think the damage is less than permanent dye. I think the 2 colors are GREAT on dark brown/black hair, especially if the highlights are in thick bunches.
