Yes, very pathetic. But that's life.
I had people who showed up without RSVP-ing. And I had people who were so excited, and asked all sorts of questions about my upcoming wedding, never showed up.
I also had people I did not invite showed up!
What are you going to do? Just be gracious to everyone because your Day is perfect.

Both and tons of them. The assumption is that between 20-30% of people who you invite will not RSVP. Some wedding planners like to assume 1/3 so I've been told. I noticed I had roughly 25%.
I have no idea how many RSVP yes but were no shows--but not very many.
You tend to end up with more people there than you planned for unless you do as some brides do and spend the week before making phone calls to get a definite.
I was too busy that week and unless you are having a sit down meal it doesn't matter that much.

Yes, I had people show up that didn't RSVP, people not show up that did RSVP, and people come that weren't invited at all! I believe this is a common problem, I guess their plans change. I think the caterers take that into consideration and plan for about 10% more people than RSVP'd. Best wishes!

I had people RSVP and only attend the ceremony without telling me which was frustrating because of the cost for the reception. I didn't have anyone attend who didn't RSVP though. A few people asked about bringing additional family members who weren't mentioned on the invitation which was a little unusual.

I'm planning to call anyone who has not RSVP'd next week, it's so annoying as we included a stamped addressed RSVP card in with the invites, there are still over half the guests who have not sent it back to us yet. I guess the people most likely to pull out at the last minute are people with very young children, sometimes something unexpected happens and they just can't come, I'd understand that.

BOTH!! doesn't this happen to everybody? it is the most irritating thing ever. i mean you send people an invitation with an RSVP card that is already stamped and they don't even have the courtesy to respond. but if you are getting married, don't let this stress you out. whatever happens at that point is some one else's problem!

there were a couple "dates" that didn't show up, but the original person we invited did. nobody that didn't RSVP showed up, but that's because we called all the non-responders to get an answer out of them. nobody that said "no" ended up showing up.

No to both. Weddings are big deals in our family, and I guess we're lucky that people are great with rsvps.

Yes, we had some no-shows that RSVP'ed. However, we didn't have any that showed without RSVP'ing, because we contacted anyone who didn't & got a verbal RSVP by phone.

I had both! The ones who showed up univited didn't have a meal waiting for them. The ones who didn't show at all (without explanation) weren't worth having in my life afterwards.
