I was in Saudi Arabia when Saddam invaded Iraq. He could have advanced all the way to Oman with little resistance. What most people don't know is on that Thursday, when Iraqi forces were in Kuwait City, 75% of the Saudi Air Force called in sick. HOW IN HELL CAN A SOLDIER CALL IN SICK? The only fighters that got airborn that day were piloted by Americans. The Saudi internal security forces stationed near the Kuwait/Saudi border turned tail and ran. They didn't stop until they were over 150 miles south of Kuwait. Kuwaiti fighter planes were landing at Dhahran Saudi Arabia airport fully loaded with bullets and bombs but out of fuel. Had I been in charge, any pilot that asked for permission to land that had not expended his munitions against the Iraqi's would have had to crash in the desert.
I had to see it with my own eyes to believe it. Again Saddam could have drove all the way to Oman with little resistance which on his part was what he should have done. He would then have control of a large percentage of the Middle Eastern oil and the world by the tail.

It probably wouldn't have worked. Not only does Saudia Arabia have the same U.S. equipment that destryed his forces, but it also opens him up to an invasion by Iran. Remember, he was a Sunni and most of Iraq was Shiites just like Iran. The forces could have also come from Turkey which boarders Iraq. Turkey is a Nato member, meaning it's a U.S. ally.

The only hope he ever had was in the US not wanting to risk all out war in the region over a small country that hardly anyone in America preiously even knew existed.

He put is chips "all-in" and we called his bluff to make a long story short.

All the middle East Muslims what the rest of the world to bow to them. We must open our eyes before its too late. If you don't bow, die is the order of the day. Study History, they have been doing this since the 14 century.
