this medicine contains codeine to help slow down the coughing and guaifenasin is an expectorant to help get the mucus out of the lungs

Check your label. Hydrocodone is Vicodin, a pain med, not a cough med.
Codeine is used to control coughing by relaxing the nervous system

hydrocodone is the generic for vicoden which helps to surpress the urge to cough (can make you really sleepy, just a heads up.
and guaifens is a decongestant to help clear you out

hydrocodone is synthetic codeine, it is in vicodin a pain med, it supresses coughing as well as the guaifens which is in robitussin
