we have 3 quakers in our "flock". Quakers are prone to fatty liver disease, and some will eat darn near anything, so you just have to make sure that they aren't eating things high in fat (like peanuts) all the time. We put a couple in their food dish twice a week. We also cut up apples, and let them have fresh apple slices (they love em') and grapes are good too. Some of ours even like strawberries and watermelon!! I also give them some cherrio's or chex cereal for treats. Those don't have sugary coating on them, and they are easy for them to hold on to while eating. When you have dinner, if you have any veggies or pasta, put a little on a dish for him. Ours go nuts when they know we are about to eat, and we let them sample some of our dinner!! Just not any thing with caffine, no chocolate, no avacado. Good luck with your new baby, your gonna love quakers!!!!

All nuts are ok in moderation.
Ther are some nuts that are better roasted & others better raw. If you look online for a list of nuts you should be able to find something.
Some nuts are fattier than others so should be used only in small amounts. Never offer salted nuts. Almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts (there's more) are excellent for them.
Peanuts should never be offered! They're an underground nut so they do have a lot of bacteria on them, particularly on the shell. Offering the shell is upto you but if you do please make sure they're never sprayed & are organic. I never offer my parrots the shell, they have interactive toys that I can put the nuts into to keep them occupied. It's a lot safer than offering a nut in a shell. These websites have more info on nuts:

Well, treats that they like are millet spray. Just don't give it to them a lot as its like cookies to birds! Also fresh fruits and veggies should be given every day or every other day. They like cut up grapes, carrots, pinapple, green beans, peas, bananas, and so on. Do not give them any Avacodos as its highly poisineous to birds! Also oatgroats is another treat that they love=:-P Just regular seed formulas for large parrots are great for any quaker parrot. They love sunflower seeds! Change their food slowely so it doesn't hurt the bowels!

All nuts are safe, but they should be in the shell to give him something to do. All nuts need to be raw, not roasted, and unsalted. Only give them as treats; the same goes for seeds. Parrots need to eat mostly fruit and lightly steamed veggies. My cockatoo loves pb+j sandwiches on whole grain bread, but I only give him organic jam and natural-style peanut butter. He also loves scrambled or hard-boiled eggs, and a very small serving of cheese. Be sure you find out which foods are toxic to birds; avocado, coffee, alcohol are only a few.

All nuts but leave them shelled to make him work for it. But if you see your bird struggling with a large nut like brazil nuts then it would be ok to assist him so he doesn't risk chipping his beak. Make sure they are unsalted, and not roasted.
