Bullet proof vests aren't what you might think. While they can stop many types of bullets, the force that propels that bullet still exists. If you take a 45 cal or a 9mm to the chest wearing a bulletproof vest, even if it stops the round, you're going to be knocked on your backside, and have a bruise the size of a coffee can.

Not sure about the gun part but bullet proof vests don't have sleeves because #1 its a vest & #2 they are made to protect important things like your heart, lungs..so on & so forth
& if it had sleeves it would be very hard to move in.. like your arms would be so effin still, cant even function right :P

Bullet proof vests are heavy and awkward to wear. They don't bend or breathe well. Sleeves would be far to uncomfortable, hot, and heavy for the payoff.
Guns aren't bulletproof. Trust me on that, a bullet will wreck a gun, most ric-tic and in a hurry.
EDIT: And remember, there are no stupid questions, only stupid people

There no such thing as a bullet proof vest. What one vest will stop theres a round ou there that will easily go through it. That's why its called body armor, hence help protect the body but not wont all ways stop a bullet. Vest don't have sleeves is because you compromise the ability for them to move freely and can case a greater chances for them to get hung up on things, we have them but never use them. For your second question a bullet can and will damage a gun.

Guns are not bullet proof in any way shape or form. As far as the sleeves question, if you had an armored plate on your arm it would be extremely hard to raise your firearm and engage the enemy.
They do make half-sleeves for vests with limited kevlar inserts, but these are flimsy and are meant to defeat shrapnel, not projectiles.

We were sleeves with our uniforms called daps but the way we fight today we would rarely get hit on the arm. Mostly gunners in gun trucks and infantry men where these. They are high uncomfortable in the heat over here but the wnter when it s cooler makes these daps a little more bareable. I know people are trying to help who ask questions about our armor but the more they ask the more heavier our stuff gets its harder to run and move with all the stuff on. So our vest actually do have sleeves we can wear. But if you are getting shot in the arm most likely you stepped out of you uparmored vehicle. But we are really not suppose to give details on weapon quality or limitations over the internet because just like you can read this..the enemy can too... these kinda of questions actually can hurt us.. just something to think about.

Firearms are not "bullet-proof". The vests are made so as to facilitate movement, and sleeves would not work well.

as for bullet proof vests... they are simply made to cover vital organs. it's highly unlikely you are going to die from a wound to an arm or leg (with the exception of the head) but a bullet through your lung that is a bit different.

Heres a stupid answer. Can a vest carry anything?
Also if you throw a gun in 20 feet of concrete it becomes bullet proof.
