A debit card is not a credit card but can work like one. The money comes from your checking account in most cases.
No, you can not use the money. Merchants can take a year to submit a payment (Some banks will reject it after 6 months)
Read this blog for further details.

NO. the gas station always charge $1.00 as a pre auth on your card to make sure it is valid. then about 24 hrs later (depending on the merchant and the bank) the monies will be deducted. So you dont no want to spend that money. just subtract it from the balance you have and spend the money minus the money you used at the gas station.

The debit card is like a check - just because it has not cleared your bank yet does not mean you don't owe it.
The danger is first - if once in a while - a huge overdraft fee, if done too many times - closing of your account and possible criminal charges.

You will be charged an overdraft fee once it does post to your account. It could also decline future pre-authorizations.
Usually, when you swipe your card, it will authorize just $1.00... then once you complete the transaction, it will charge the full amount... but on many checking accounts, they will not post it to your account until the nightly processing following the next business day. So if you charge it on Friday, it wont clear until midnight Monday night.,.. or early Tuesday.

No, some companies take up to 45 days to charge your account. You'll just cause yourself overdraft fees.

you can-but you are going to be liable for any fees for overdrafting if you do withdraw too much money. usually Gas stations only pend for1.00 and then put your amount in correctly when it posts, just dont do it man!

Yeah only if you have enough to cover the charge when they do charge to you account...
otherwise you'll be overdrawn ( usually with fees associated).

If you do and then it suddenly appears on your account, that can cause you to possibly be overdrawn.
Not a good idea.

don't spend money you haven't got, the banks love to get you into debt, they then have you trapped as a customer and make loads of money of you paying a debt back through the interest.
