maybe, just maybe he sees something in you and is just trying to inspire you to do just that, go back to school and get an education so you will not forever be stuck in a low paying job.

Some people have a terrible management style. I would classify what you're describing as exactly that. No matter what, there's no reason to treat an employee like that. I had one lady I was training who I had to repeatedly train on the same tasks but I just exercised patience, gave her the information & coached her on how to remember it next time. She eventually got it.

It could be that the manager is having some kind of personal problems and it's leaking through to his work. It's not acceptable or professional.

It could be that the manager is unhappy with some aspect of your work and lacks the guts to approach you about it directly and is instead trying to get you to quit...it's also possible that his niece or whatever wants your job & he's trying to get you to quit so that person can get your job.

There are any number of possibilities.

If I were you, I'd journal specifics about each encounter like you described. See if you can go to a manager who is higher than this person and talk with that person about this. It could be that the manager just has no clue how to manage & needs to be coached himself.

I have been a manager for a 8-10 years now. I do not speak ot people like that, even if they are stupid. I would say that you should pull him aside and let him know that you feel you are being picked on and want to know what you can do to improve you performance. Also let him know if he feels you are not right for the position, you will leave.

I would also consider going over his head if he continues this negative behavior, and bring others with you who have witnessed this activity. Some managers abuse power and need to be put in their place.

All bullies pick on people that don't stand up to them.

Your manager will have a boss and your firm will have a disciplinary procedure, report your boss. your age should have no bearing on this, take a note of the dates and times of the bullying.

No one is worthless so don't let him tell you otherwise, he is putting you down to cover up his own failings.
