Like I said "I have kids" I have a kids computer and eventually they are able to mess it all up, for once after I spend hours configuring all the drivers and upgrading windows endlessly I would like to save EVERYTHING just as is on the same hard disk in a filesomplace and just hit a keysequence to wipe the drive clean of viruses, malware documents and all and bring it all back to the way it was when I initially set it up... If that is not possible , I have a home network, possibly to store the backup elsewhere? Id rather not though.

Best known and reliable method is with a third party software called Acronis which can be purchased in stores that sell pc softwares.
Acronis will make an image of your hard drive and it will only takes a few seconds to get your computer back to what it was before trouble started. The image can be saved on DVD disk or on another drive for later use.
The program will restore the computer using the image that you created. No more lost hours of reconfiguration the drivers etc...:)

Symantec Ghost

Makes an exact "clone" or image of your system either to multiple DVD disks or another hard drive.

It's worth the investment.
