I am looking for a phenomenal place to go for a honeymoon and would like good food, snorkling, beaches, etc. One of those once-in-a-lifetime type places. And no high rise resorts. Thanks

Well, if you would like deserted white sand beaches i would definitely recommend the Corn Islands in the Carribean coast of Nicaragua (Central America). There is big corn island, and little corn island, i however, would rather you stay in big corn island because little corn island doesn't really have places to stay, only about 500 locals live there. The reefs around both islands are beautiful and full of exotic and colorful marine life. There are NO high rise resorts on the island or even the nearest city on Mainland Nicaragua. As for safesty, im sure you will be happy to hear that Nicaragua is actually rated as the SAFEST country in Latin America, however, it depends on the source.http://www.pronicaragua.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=24&Itemid=97 But according to statistics it is actually the 2nd safest, after Uruguay. This website will provide you with information on the history of the island as well as activities, how to get there, prices, nearby resorts, and restaurants. http://www.vianica.com/visit/corn-islands Here is an article of the Los Angeles Times about the Corn islands along with a wonderful video. http://travel.latimes.com/articles/la-tr-corn8apr08?page=1

I would recommend Anthony's Key Resort on the Island of Roatan in Honduras. I haven't been there for a while but when I stayed last we had indiviual buildings consisting of a room and bath. They also had a restaurants and we had it set up where the meals were included. They had a casino, but it was small and used only by the guest at the resortand is closed now. They have their own dive/snorkeling boats and the water is crystal clear and beautiful. You can see sea life 40-60 ft down from the surface. Great snokeling from the beach. Horseback riding on the beach is available. Hammocks and lounges abound.

A great place to relax and have a great time.

Though don't expect the Waldorf out of an island hut.

Also enjoy the Rum Punch they provided it free on arrival. There are direct flights to Roatan from the US or you can fly onto the Honduran mainland and hop over.

Everyone on the island is taught English as a required language in school. And the people of the island are great.

Check it out on the internet. There are also frequent articles and adverts in Skin Diver Magazine.
