He is probably not constipated. You gave him pepto to stop the diarrhea, so it did! He is empty inside now, and it will take a day or two for his GI tract to get back to normal. If he's eating OK, he should be fine. If not, definitely get him to the vet. Yes, stress can definitely cause diarrhea.

Feeding canned pumpkin (not the pile filling--but actual pumpkin) can sometimes help with consitpation as it is high in fiber.

Also, often times when my dog has diarrhea she will not got for a day or so afterwards. It's like her system gets so cleaned out there is nothing left. Also, stress definitely makes my dog constipated. So both of these things could be adding to it.

Is he just not going or is he straining to go and nothing is happening?

Feed a bland diet for a few days. Boiled chicken or ground beef completely drained of all fat mixed with some plain white rice and pumpkin and it should resolve itself.

Good luck!

pepto or metronidazole can cause constipation after the diarrhea. But if your dog isn't producing and poops after a couple of days, I'd call your vet.

Stop the pepto and increase his fiber and water intake.

Mix canned pumpkin (not the pie mix) and moisten his food to increase his water intake.

If this doesn't work after a day or two he may need an enema to get him going again.

go to vet......oh i think its because of the peptol bismol and stress. i don't think dogs are allowed to have peptol bismol or it will make them sick. stress because dogs get used to the environment that they have been in and when you move they are unfamiliar to there environment.

Ask your vet. When I moved to another town my golden retriever vomitted everywhere and had diarrhea everday till we got settled in and he got used to it. but best bet is to always check with vet
