Is it red or hot?
Was he asleep inside or outside?
Inside he could have a spider bite, but I don't know if those affect dogs like they do humans.
Outside, it could be a bee sting, a velvet ant, or some other insect.
Look for a center spot... that could be an injection site for insect venom.

Maybe give him some Benedryl, it could be a bee sting or spider bite. My brother's dog did the same thing (was stung by a bumble bee in the face and her face swelled up). Benedryl every 4 hours, if you don't see ANY change in 1 hour, take him to the vet.

Take it to your vet and have it check out. He could have been bit or stung by something and having an allergic reaction to it. You can try benadryl. I don't know the weight of your animal, other wise I could give you a dosage. I would still go see a vet tomarrow to make sure that is what it is and if the benadryl isn't working. If something grows that fast, they might want to do a fine needle aspiration to check and see the mass.

sounds like its an abessed tooth. my old boy had one...he was pretty old so we did do surgery to remove it. just some antibotics and ice wraped in a towel. but it could be a sting benydyrl will work for that and a bit of ice to take swelling down. either way go to the vet!

Could be several things...an infected tooth root abcess, a bite from something, an infection. Tumors don't usually come up overnight. Your vet needs to check this out!

If it were me just to be safe, I'd call an emer vet clinic if there's one available and ask them what they think. Dog may need to be seen asap. Or could be a reaction to a bee sting, believe it or not my hound loves to chase bumble bees and fortunately I haven't had to deal with her actually catching one yet. Good luck!
