can we go back to being the friends we were before?

my girlfriend and i just broke up, after 6 months together. the thing is, we were best friends before that, and we would both want to go back to the way we were. however, we used to be really close friends, always cuddly etc., because of the attraction between us, but we just didnt work as a couple. can it work to go back to what we had before, or is it impossible?

Same happened to me. You'll never become that intimate again as friends cuz there's no more built up tension brought by attraction. You don't see each other in that romantic sense anymore.

Unfortunately not. Break ups are usually not mutual. If you were the one that broke up with your girlfriend, she might still have feelings for you. Even though she claims she does not, its just a front (humans do not like to have their egos hurt). When you go back to the "being friends" relationship, one or the other will get jealous when a new interest comes into the ex's life. This causes tension in your friendship. You can try to have a friendship again, but it will not be the same as it once was before.

Going back is not realistic now that you have that "baggage" between you. If you both want to be friends, you can make that happen but it will not be quite the same as it was.

always give her the attention you used to give her or shell give you up as a lost cause...still if yoo were great friends before i dont see why it will be any different
