most dogs are okay with chocolate. Just watch the dog closely and I'm sure it will be okay.
If the dog starts freaking out take it to a vet. Just learn from this mistake and move on.
It's not your fault a dog will eat anything and these things happen.

Some dogs can handle chocolate. I once had a Mini Dachshund who ate over half a pack of Oreos with no side effects. Other dogs can't handle it at all and could get very sick. Watch over you're dog and if they seem alright just make sure you be more careful. Just because nothing happened this time doesn't mean it won't next time. If the dog starts acting like somethings wrong you should call a vet and explain what happened. They should help you out from there on out. I'm sure your dog will be okay.

Okay so my dog ate about the same amount of chocolate and i freaked out to but the vet said that chocolate actually isnt "poisionus" to dogs it gets bad if the dog consums more chocolate than a human would eat at a time. Your dog should be fine but u might want to call one of those 24/7 vets just to make sure! hope that helped

When my dog was a 5 pound puppy she ate an entire milk milk chocolate bar! I didn't know untill well after the fact (kids!) but she was just fine. She is now ten years old and going strong. I have heard that dark chocolate is what can really be bad for a dog.

Chocolate is a poison to dogs. A small dog such as yours could probably get sick from half a pop tart. Watch for signs of clear diarrhea, vomiting and lethargy. If it were my dog, I'd bite the bullet and go to the vet. There are emergency vet's open, even on the week-end. I've seen dog's with chocolate poisoning and it's not pretty. Worst case scenario, it leads to kidney failure. Sorry and hope your dog is fine!

I used to have a pomeranian-longhaired chihuahua. Effie had her likes and dislikes, but no I never gave her anymore than say a bite of something in a day other than her dog food. I would definitely call the vet on call just to ask them but my guess is flush fluids (water only, please) as much as possible, watch the dog for diareah and what's probably going to affect it more is the sugar content. I would just keep a watch on the dog. Should be ok. Just don't let it happen again. Choc, raisins and many other things are highly poisionous and toxic to dogs.

Chocolate (actually cacao) is toxic, period. Not just to dogs, but to mammals and birds, and maybe other animals as well. It is also toxic to people. However, the toxicity level is 1 pound of chocolate per 7 pounds of animal. So a 100 lb person needs to eat approx. 14 lbs. of chocolate to get really sick .. I haven't heard of anyone who's managed it.
So, if a very small dog (weighing less than 7 pounds) were to eat a pound of very good chocolate, it would die or get very sick. But there's very little actual cacao in a chocolate pop tart, not enough to hurt your dog unless it's unusually sensitive. However, the sugar and fat and other junk in pop tarts is not good for dogs, (or you either for that matter but that's another issue), so I suggest you keep junk food out of your dog's reach in the future.

keep a close eye on him for 24 hours.
call the vet in the morning to see what he recommends.
today, do a google search for symptoms of chocolate poisoning in dogs
or go to a vet chat website and ask what symptoms to watch for.
IN THE FUTURE, be more careful with your chocolate poptarts.

First calm down it wont help to freak. Chocolate is not good for dogs but only kills in fairly large quantities. Half a poptart should be okay but may make him/her sick. (especially do to his/her size) you might call the vet to see their opinion but your dog should be okay
