Don't put those puppy pads OR a litter box in your dog's crate. They don't go to the bathroom where they sleep. You really should make an attempt to housebreak the dog to go outside. You can use those puppy pads, and everyday move them closer and closer to the door until your dog can hold it for longer periods, and eventually work it so that you're taking him out when you're home and you see him going to the puppy pad... when you take him out, praise him and he'll start to know that he has to go outside and wait when you're not home. As long as you're not gone for 14 hours a day, once your dog is a little older he should be able to hold it.

You should definately get him a crate or cage. Crate training is the best idea for you. Get the Wee Wee pads and put them in his cage. They have a scent that attracts the dog to it. When he does his thing, just roll it up and throw it away. They are waterproof and you get a lot of pads in a package. Just set him on the paper every hour or so and after he has had a drink or food. Dogs dont gain full bladder control until 20 weeks so be patient. You can also litter train him per say with paper if he is small enough and you have a good size box. Just put the wee wee pad in the litter box and train him to go on the pads instead of outside. My friend had 3 dogs in a duplex and no yard so when she wasnt walking them they had a litter box. I think its a little unusual for a dog, but it works. Good Luck with it.

Ok, when you are gone make sure that puppy is in the bathroom or some other easy to clean room that is on the smallish side. Crates work well to but you should read up about training them for that.
place the litter box in the room. If puppy has had a stool place the stool in the litter box. This gives him an olefactory(scent) clue that this is his bathroom. When you are home, take him to the box anytime you see him circling and sniffing as these are great clues that he needs to go potty. Treat him with a bit of hotdog or some other yummy treat when he does go potty in the box. before long he will be running to use it on his own.
Good luck!

Dogs are different than cats when it comes to "litter training".
Usually, you would train a dog with newspapers, allowing them and training them to go in a certain area is OK and telling them "good boy/girl" when they do.
You rub their nose in it telling them "no, bad dog!" when they go outside the area that is OK to pee or poop.
If you litter train the dog (like a cat), you would do similarly and show them the area or litter box where it is safe and OK to use for "potty" time. You take their front paw and scrape at the litter and give them the idea to use the litter box.
After a while they get the idea and will use the papers or litter box. Then you can work with them on lead (a leash to "go bye-bye" or go for a walk).
Hope this helps! Good luck!

First thing you have to do with a dog is us the same dry food. Dry food is the best because it cleans there teeth and it is not full of water. Until house broke, the dog should only be feed once a day at the same time every day. Walk the dog after you feed it. And I mean walk do not just stand there. Then walk him again a half hour after that. You should walk him as many times a day as you can until house broke. Walking helps it pass the food. Walk it in the same place every day. When they smell there own potty it makes them have to go. When the dog goes in the house, clean it up with vinegar. This does 2 things kills the smell+vinegar has a urine bass smell and the dog thinks you r marking this as your turf. When the dog goes in the house put the potty outside where you want it to go. Remember smelling his potty makes him want to go. So no potty smell in the house but lots of potty smell outside. You should have a pin or create just big enough for him to lie down. Most dog will not potty where they lay. Do not put anything in the pin that will soak up pee. When you are not watching your dog, he should be in the pin. If he goes in the house, you should catch him in the act and grab him and yell no then take him outside. Clean it up and take the potty outside. So to rap this up. Walk him as much as you can tell him good boy when he goes outside. When your not watching him keep him it the pin. When he goes inside tell him bad boy and take him outside..
