why do people think agnostics and atheists are the same thing when they are clearly NOT?

I've met plenty of people who think that, actually. Quite a few people don't really research other religions--they just stick to theirs. So, what that amounts to is general ignorance about other religions.

(BTW, I've also heard from some people that they think an agnostic is "someone who believes in God but doesn't go to church").

I used to be an Agnostic. So I know that. I have found that there are some Ateists who have a problem with Agnostics. But the worse one's are the Atheists. And Agnostic to me tells the truth, that he doesn't know. And Atheists without any proof will commit his faith ( though in denial the entire time) , that he has no faith, but he does! He has faith that he is right about what he believes without any proof, blind faith all the way.

But not to pick another fight with them: they do not have any truth in them, so I actually feel sorry for them.

richard dawkins said they were, and he's the messiah of atheism or something. the son of the flying spaghetti monster. personally, I feel the whole thing is a blatant rip on christianity. lol.

i guess i'm agnostic, and i don't put myself in the same category as atheists.

Actually, sometimes they can be the same. Look up "agnostic atheism" in wikipedia.

fake Atheism: loss of theory in God, and the evidence accessible demonstrates that the possibility for God's lifestyles is close to to 0. Agnostic Atheism: loss of theory in God, yet there's no thank you to teach the non-lifestyles of God.

i guess people would think that because they both have to do with clearly not believing what the bible says. Of course there is a huge difference..but i think that would be the reason.

wouldn't it be agnosticism v. atheism, or agnostics v. atheists

and I don't think that, and if they aren't totally ignorant, then there should be no reason for them to.

We aren't exactly the same, but we have more in common than we have differences. So often the religious lump us together.

By God, THEY ARE NOT MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE!.

There are no agnostic non-theistnon-atheists! CONTRADICTION OF TERMS!

Either you are a gnostic theist, agnostic theist, gnostic atheist, or agnostic atheist. THERE ARE NO OTHER OPTIONS!
