Thank you Kelly. I'm LDS/Mormon so I'll answer the other way. My boss is Baptist, and I really admire him. He shares many of the same values and morals that I do. In my job interview we started discussing the gospel, and it was really cool.

Avg Christian -average? I don't discriminate. I like all people equally. I think its good for people to come unto God in their own time.
As for Mormons? Hmm well they are a peculiar people aren't they? That is a good thing surely. We are to be in the World but not of it. That is very important. Yes it would be easier to give up my faith and live as the World does but I would not be fulfilled. I would be deceiving myself.
Mormon is a man of old, a prophet. I am LDS, a prophet for myself. I can pray and study, ask for His guidance whenever I want. Pray always that Satan not deceive you.

the Mormon "prophet" Hinckley instructed that wives are men's possessions and she and the children are to make life easier for the man. Women are secondary at best. But would you expect less, when they believe there is polygamy in their heaven? And how is this a good thing for women and children? Don't all religions focus on family and raising children? Isn't that the whole premise about rejection of gay marriage???

The avg. Christian and the LDS believer should share the same beliefs about family. The father is to be the head of the household and instruct his children in the ways of the righteousness and teach him the scripture. The family is very much an integral part of any christian.
But, the church's proclamation on family and their dedication to it are to be praised.

Of course there are millions of things to LOVE about non-LDS Christians, average or not. (I'm LDS.) Most of all, I love their focus on the Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ is the centre of the beliefs of all of Christianity, whether they be Catholic, LDS, JWs, born again, Apostolic, Baptist, Lutheran, SDA, non-denominational Christians, et al. We all share that basis in relying upon the atoning blood of Jesus Christ for our salvation.
We are all unique children of God, learning "line upon line"... little bit, by little bit. We should each be valued as the unique individuals that we are.
I especially love those Christians who realise that although I have many beliefs in addition to what modern Christianity accept, I, too, have been "born again"... of the water, and of the Spirit. What more can any Christian ask for?

I am a born again christian. However I can appreciate and respect the Morman faith. I know people get hung up on plural marriages, however if they are not minors and are consenting adults what is wrong with it. They are rasing families and communities just as anyone else. It is not my place to judge or condemn.
However from the christian aspect of it, I do believe that you must accept christ as your savior.

The focus on family in the Mormon church is something concocted by the church. if you look at the census, you will find that what they say and what they do is different. There is a much higher rate of divorce among Mormons than others.

What I don't understand is, people say these sorts of things, these positive things about Mormons, yet, the CHURCH is evil, the men who started the church were evil, and how can such good come from something evil?

Thanks for this question! As far as the average Christian is concerned (IE, those who are Protestants, Catholics, non-denominational, etc), I can only speak about my own individual experiences. I feel that these people, in general, are genuinely honest about what they believe and that they truly accept Jesus Christ as the Savior.
I think highlighting the similarities in both sides would help us understand each other a little more :)

Like most religions it is what you make of it. It's not one that people are likely to convert to, unless they're very lonely and a friendly mormon calls to make them feel important.
techtwosue. is that true? it is hard to believe. You know if it's true, so me questioning should not be an insult.
