Bush can bring the troops home. But he can't stop the war. He, and many other people, feel that by eliminating Saddam Hussein and the government of Iraq, we took on an obligation to help them rebuild a stable democracy. With all the warring factions there, things will fall into chaos as soon as the troops leave. Not only will Iraqis suffer, but there's a real danger that it could turn into a refuge for terrorists, as Afghanistan was under the Taliban, and as Pakistan is in danger of becoming.

It's a mess, and many would argue that we never should have gone there in the first place, but we probably need a better plan than just walking away. Any ideas?

Ok say we do leave all of a sudden. Absolutely no stability in Iraq if we leave and what happens when a weak country has a weak government. Usually someone will take control over a country and claiming himself a dictator. We want to stabilize the middle east so that there is a less chance of terrorism. If we leave now we will get more enemies than we ever did before and another 9/11 or even worse will happen. I do not like our president one, he got us into this mess and the best thing to do is finish the fight instead of cut and running

It became understood that they might return the troops abode as quickly as available . that doesn't advise a 2 3 hundred and sixty 5 days withdrawal of forces forsaking some 50,000 on the 14 everlasting bases geared up with billions of wasted tax payer money . This became not what Bush bought u . s . a . of america on . it is not assume to be the country that we take over to place stronger troops and aspects to salary a conflict for oil sooner or later . Or to discourage this manner of conflict from happening . as quickly as we get leaders who will certainly voice their very own plans and enable the folk choose we would have discovered a pacesetter . you would be able to not lead a u . s . a . of loose people and nevertheless function definitely by making use of telling lies . Had Bush defined the reasoning at the back of the will for bases in the middle east we would of a minimum of had the possibility to furnish words to the countries of Opec . it style of feels as though we are only going to take what we would like . it is putting us in greater threat then in the previous . those anybody is affected person and prepared to take years to plot an attack that reaches deep into our countries morale .

Bush doesn't believe in making decisions based on expert advice and evidence, he believes in going by 'his gut'. Once he's made the decision, he's unable to admit that he's made a mistake, even to himself. He feels the war in Iraq isn't a failure until he gives up. If he does give up, he expects the Democrats will make the most of it.

Bush keeps saying that we're turning the corner, we're just beginning to make progress. But he's not recognize when a strategy isn't working, back off, and try something different. He says he's listening to his generals, but if he'd listened to them in the first place we woudn't have invaded Iraq, and now the only generals -left- are the ones who tell him what he wants to hear.

I think Bush's strategy at this point is just to keep the war going a little longer, then a little longer, until the Democrats take it out of his hands, either by refusing to fund it, or by electing a Democratic president in 2008. Then the Republicans will say for the next few decades that we were -winning- but the Democrats made us -surrender-!

Because if we leave before the job is over and "cut and run". The terrorist will follow us right back across the ocean with our troops and will be attacking us on our soil. That is why we owe the miltary so much gratiude. They fight the enemy over there and give up their lifes so that unarmed citizens arn't killed on the streets of our cities. It's only a matter of time before Middle East like attacks start here. If 5 terrorist walk into a crowded mall or shopping center, they will kill dozens if not hundreds of people before they are killed. Why not fight the battle in Iraq and not in an AMerican shopping mall?

Bush has not wavered from his objectives in Iraq since his first speeches concerning the difficulty and potential length of such a conflict - with this in mind, both the American people and the Congress granted him support and authorization to invade Iraq.
The people and Congress are the ones that have flipped flopped - the President has remained committed. I can't help but admire the man for his resolve - despite the political thrashing he receives on a constant basis from the left and some from his own party.

We are just people, we are not experts, his has all his Military people telling him otherwise.

Do you honestly think if all Executive team were telling him they should come home that he would just make up his own mind? I hardly think so - - as it is he is criticized for everything with no one taking into consideration what goes on behind all those meetings!
