who is that pope, besides a man who was elected by other men? many false prophets will rise up and declare many things, but I have read the Word of God and have a relationship after having surrendered my life to Jesus Christ. His Word and lessons are what I follow, not any given by 'men'..... religion is not what Jesus taught..... it was the religious who persecuted and had Jesus put to death. The pope has no power... over me or anyone else... he is just a man
so, yeah... i don't care what the pope says.... he is nothing to me

Don't overlook the big picture. The catholic church is a nearly 2,000 year old lie to mankind. Its misuse of power and good will has been etched in the annals of history. Billions of people over the past 2,000 years have been misled by this blasphemous organization, and have subsequently been denied the real spiritual food that God offered mankind through Jesus Christ and the Bible. Though they are not alone in this, they are certainly the biggest and baddest of the blind guides, which Jesus Christ condemned. Their doctrines are man made, they teach out of man made catechism and most of their teachings are diametrically opposed to what Jesus taught.
There is much more that could be said about this satanic/pagan counterfeit purveyor of lies. So it is best that you are left with the following fact.
Just recently, the diocese of Los Angeles was socked with a 660 million (might as well have been 666 million) dollar lawsuit for rampant pedophilia. (And most of you know that it is not only in LA that this has happened)
Jesus put it quite simply, and it is a universal truth.
"You know them by their fruits." (no pun intended)

"If membership is the true religion is so essential for eternal salvation, and therefore presumably for right living, that there are persons who are not members of the Catholic Church, that are professed agnostics who yet lead good lives and are highly respected citizens?" They are good citizens not because of their agnosticism or atheism, but in spite of it. The answer is to be found in the fact that such person living in a society permeated with Catholic ideals are profoundly influenced, consciously or unconsciously, by the moral standard, and the code of ethics inspired by the teaching of the Catholics that they don't even follow to the fullest.

Given religion predates all forms of Christianity, if there is a true church, it predates the Christian era. The human has been worshipping a divine power or source since "In the beginning." The act of public worship by definition constitutes a church. Perhaps, the true church is indeed made without hands (Mark 14:58).

Read this in the Truth Book;
Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.Matt 12:47
And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever. Matt 8:14
And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.Matt 23:9
God gave us His word and we all have the right to read our love letter from our Father in Heaven

For Anti Catholics it makes no difference what the Pope says: anything he says will be automatically wrong,a deception or foolish. There is little thatTHEY SCREAM THAT HAS A REAL BASIS IN REALITY.
It is better to laugh than to tear your hair out.

You seem to know the answer.....so let me answer like this. We, Christians, believe Jesus is the only way. When a church comes along and adds things to the gospel and His word, they are anathematized. Which is cursed.
The many popes throughout the century have made many extra biblical statement which don't even line up with the bible. He views himself as God's spokesman. Whatever he says is supposedly God-breathed. We don't buy that! There are foolish statements and contradictions everywhere. And this is one of those religion that doesn't want you to question what they teach; just open up and swallow. Most Catholics don't even read the bible!
The answer is a hearty - NO!!

the catholic church, like all of the organized religions that followed it, was built on false pretenses. these religions were created as a way for the 'church' to better control the locals, and to subsequently rise to a wealthy and powerfull state.
I dont care who gets all huffy over this false and insane statement, the pope is just trying to keep it all together, like any failing political leader would.
the whole truth here is that these organized religions have been preying on the worlds populace for centuries, but now the human race is beginning to evolve a bit more, and we are slowly discarding these ancient and primitive concepts of religion.
soon one day man can be free and dismiss all the false gods it has been 'forced' to worship all throughout time, a few more fanatical nut-jobs will have to die off first. but I am patiently waiting, one day mankind will 'wakeup'.

With what goes on in the catholic religion why would anyone believe that it is the true church. OMG! Wonder where that money that people put in the little basket every week goes! Law suits! I try not to be anti-anything but I really have a hard time dealing with a religion that keeps trying to cover things up and that was putting it very nicely. AMEN
