Ah, the good old days weren't always good and tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems.
Learn stickball as a formal education (you may lose a lot of fights but it'll teach you how to lose O.K.).
Kallan, those days were a blast and I see no reason they shouldn't continue. I believe sentimentality often gets in the way of our will to learn and re-learn anew. And I only believe it because I am far too sentimental at times. Soo-oo-oo, wanna have a ceremony? I mean, for me? Like, in honor of me? We can play drinking games, get to know one another, dress up in costumes that honor me, wed me to myself, etc., etc. I mean, REALLY. What could be more fun? ;-)
I love you, Kallan Monster.

So sorry.
This one comes from a different cultural background and does not know what a "drinking game " is, nor a "theme day" and has never heard of an "online wedding".
During this one's youth, it seemed as though this one's family knew all of the families in the area where we resided.
No one locked their doors during the day nor the night.
When a letter was misaddressed, the postal carrier knew each well enough to still bring the posting to the correct person.
The dairyman delivered fresh, whole, unpasturized milk and farm fresh eggs. Some cheeses and yogurts were available.
The doctor came to visit the township on a regular and predicable basis.
There was more foot traffic and bicycles than automobiles.
One grew flowers in the front of one's house and one's vegetables in the back.
Children could play out til dark and walk safely home without fear.
The area farmers brought their produce to the common in hand carts or darys pulled by small pony or cow.
Such was pleasant and made many a fond memory.
All of life changes. Nothing is static, all is in flux.
Today is different yet it too will produce many fond memories.
May it all be well with you.

If you mean by 'good old days' as days from about 1945 to 1965 - 1970 lately, then I would agree with you that those were more spiritual when people were more or less content with whatever they had till the time new conflicts started to flare up all over the world.
However, if you mean by 'good old days' as from January 2006 to December 2006 then I would say that those days were a bit painful to me in R&S though I used to visit this section just by following any User's profile and Q&A as contained therein (just like I came to Answer this Q by following your link). A lot of hateful and sarcastic Q&A were seen and removed in the last years by the Users in line Yahoo! TOS and with Community Guidelines. People have come to believe now that it is futile to lodge a propaganda campaign to malign certain religion or belief, for that matter non-belief.
Therefore, we may safely say that "Yes, good old days more spiritual after the Second World War" and it was a bit less comfortable treading in R&S in the past year!

Yep, I sure do. A lot of the current cra. . .I mean, crop of denizens here have no discernable sense of humor. Apparently all they have is the burning need to be 100% right, even if that means hurting other people in the process.
So, who's for bringing back the good old days? We need a wedding or two, a couple of rounds of the drinking game, and someone to ask questions that will make us realize that we're all just people here. It won't completely get rid of the nastiness and viciousness, but it would certainly be a good start.

I don't know Kallan... maybe it was a little cliqueie. LOL!
I do miss the sense of comunity we had. I miss the mayor, the village idiot, the wedding and funerals (deletions), I miss the banter...ah the banter, I miss the jousting matches (wow I loved the joust)...sigh.
Bit of a dry spell nothing permenant I hope. Though a few rays of cosmic sunshine break through the clouds now and then I fear perhaps our time is passing...then again what significance is time here anyway?
I remember the occassional spot of tea....sipping, skin soaking in aromatic steam, nostrals smelling fresh rain mixed with the sent of warm honey and lemon, moments of shear poetry!!!!!!! Breathtaking!!!!!!
A circle of friends wrapped in a moment each expanding that moment with their thoughts like a melody unfolding. We danced!
Too gusshy for some of you?...well ok!...it was just great!
Change is constant.
Peace-hug.

I don't know about them being more spiritual... I tend to leave that word be for obvious reasons. *Grins* However, I do think those sorts of activities were wonderful, and they are missed. Change is important, but there's value in the past, as well.
