Hi there. The Receiver you are using with your NHT speakers appears to be a good match. Therefore we must look elsewhere to find a solution. What are you using for your Source ? (DVD Player,CD Player, Turntable, or Tuner) This is where the signal starts its journey to the speakers. What Interconnect cables are you using from the Source to the Receiver. The type of cable can make a huge difference to the sound. What are you using to connect the speakers to the Receiver. This cable can affect the sound you hear from the speakers. OK, if you could supply that information we will have a better chance to come up with a solution.

EDIT Mate ,let me get this right .You have got this system at home and it does not sound as good as it did in the store where you first heard it ? Or you heard this at the store and it sounded laid back but you like the sound of the speakers ?
Sorry if i appear a bit dumb but i want to get it right .

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :

HI mate (again) You are correct about the speakers sounding laid back .Other people have noticed the affect also. The reason given is that those speakers perform without sounding too detailed or anaytical which some people attribute as a laid back sound, but the speakers are really sweet sounding and non fatiguing.

There is no way of knowing how they would actually sound in your home theater room. The final sound will depend on what Source you use and how accurate it is.Changing cables could affect the sound but we would not know which way.

If you are not sure if you could live with those speakers there are plenty of other ones that will give you a more dynamic sound with more detail and imaging. What do you think ?
