You have to realize how many real stupid people there are in this world. If you have ever dealt with the public in a business capacity, you would understand. I'm sure they all talk about it in their cars when they are alone, and back at the station. Makes for an interesting day, if nothing else, it's never boring.

It all boils down to this. when dealing with any person or situation, you must remain calm, rational and proffessional. you can never show fear, disdain, or have an attitude that you are better than them. you must have patience with the mentally disturbed, contain your rage with the unruly, and do your best to control your laughter in an amusing situation. (would you let someone handle your situation if they were laughing in your face?) if an officer feels it is getting more than he can handle, he should call for back-up/help, and keep the person/persons busy talking till help arrives.
all the while, maintaining a proffessional look, attitude, and speech.
FYI.....when we drive away though, we do laugh till our sides hurt.
God bless,drive safe.

We try our best to maintain a level of professionalism when we're dealing with the public. As soon as we clear the call and we're standing around shooting the breeze with the other officers, you bet your tail we're laughing our guts out.

I am sure that one was laughed about later.
It took that cop WAY too long to get the cuffs out. Once he chased that guy down and had to put hands on him he should have cuffed him.

I think most honest cops feel a touch of compassion for the average offender, and if they are human, they must feel disgust, anger and pity in certain situations. They are trained to act as professionals and to supress most of these emotions when it is not in the criminals, nor their own best interests.

I don't know. Maybe they just feel sorry for the people and how pathetic they are after dealing with it so much? Me, I'd be laughing my butt off...
