Truth requires exposure to education, knowledge of the facts, not just feelings, and for some to ignore reality by viewing it in an unrealistic way is easier than doing the actual homework.

The truth hurts and noone likes to admit that they're wrong.
Someone once said "There are three kinds of truth, your truth, my truth, and the truth."
You can answer the question best by exploring your own feelings when someone exposes the truth to you

ah now here is where we get philosophical. *Whose* truth? Your truth may not necessarily be someone else's truth. What they have known about their entire lives is different from what you've known so their truth is not yours.
To be challenged on a something that we percieve to be true can hurt,. It can shatter everything you've known - about yourself, about others. So anger is how we deal with something that is not as we have believed it to be.
Not a clear cut answer, but truth and whose truth has been discussed debated, argued and cried over through out the centuries.

The truth angers them because they do not want to know that the truth... is really the truth. It may be shocking and inexplicable, but it's a reaction that just happens.

Because they don't want to face it. They feel bad and don't know what to do about it.
It's like my Catholic friend refusing to see the movie about the molesters in the church.
Or my Republican friends refusing to see Farenheit 911.
When people aren't educated enough to understand the truth or explain themselves, they get mad.
