NO..The Cheytac would be a stupid choice for a hunting rifle.Sixtus.You need to re-read yourself...... Wino stated Gun+ Scope for $5K and he's not very far off. And YES..You could take a Cheytac hunting if you wanted a pile of wild hamburger and some fur balls (That's all that would be left).Hardly practical. If you are the type you would hunt with something that big you might as well hunt with a 155mm Field Howitzer.......

Not a 'good ' choice no, but it is possible certainly to take them hunting.

Generally any rifle in true long range, match or sniper style are not the best for well balanced shooting from all field positions. In other words kneeling, standing, snap shots etc.
Since they are usually designed to be fired prone(lying down), with a bipod, very long barrel, extra weight etc.

That said once again if you wanted to take one hunting and were happy to put up with a bit of encumberance there is no reason you could not.

I think the guy called wino has certainly been hitting the wine too much. You could get a scope worthy of hunting for less than $1000.

Slightly pricey for hunting unless you are hunting elephants at 1000yds...rifle plus good scope would be close to $5,000.00
