Contesting a Parking Citation in California?

I live in Orange County and have received a parking citation in the city of Cypress. I was wondering if I decided to contest the citation, do I have to show up in court after the request for the contest has been reviewed. All it says on the ticket is that, "You will be notified by mail of the result of your administrative review."
