I will be showing my gsd for the first time in less than a month in a sv german show not an akc and I know they show different. All I found so far was some rules but nothing more explaining or pictures or whats all involved. Yes, I am doing it with the breeder but they are gone to canada showing for 2 weeks and i like to start practicing now. Thanks

IN the german confromation ring the dogs trot around a ring for several minutes at a time off and on leash. It is VASTLY different from AKC conformation, the rings are much larger and you run for a long time. You and the dog must be in excellent condition. The dog might be required to trot and run for 30 minutes so many people have their family help since most people are not long distance runners. Depending on your dog's age it must pass a courage test. I only showed my German bred GSD in AKC and Schutzhund as the running for 30 mins would have killed me..lol.. Otherwise he would have done well, he had OFA'd hips and his GSDoA TC but his owner was never in condition to run for that long. Good luck and take a lot of water.. Here is a link to some info as well..

Practice is very important. So that the dog will not be nervous in the ring. However I think you should have been practicing long before 2 weeks before your show. And you should have attended a few of these shows to see how it was run before entering your dog.

I can't answer your question as I only showed Chihuahuas in AKC shows. From what I can see on the internet the SV doesn't show on confirmation but the working attributes of the dog. So how it's run is probably designed on how best to demonstrate it's herding or rescue etc abilties.

because of fact they have not got compatibility into the breed common for a german shepherd domestic dog. A actual breeder could desire to no longer be finding to reproduce them and in the event that they won one in a clutter would not sign interior the domestic dog on the common sign in. This attitude they are registered (papered) although can not be shown or have puppies registered. What do you mean by making use of way of the CKC? Canadian or Continental Kennel club? One is a actual canines registration business enterprise the different isn't!! **breeding to an around the realm recognized common isn't domestic dog snobbery - edge of breeding any domestic dog is to maintain the integrity of the breed. COAT - The skin fits loosely, although without forming folds. the right coat of the German Shepherd canines is a double coat (Stockhaar) with undercoat. the perfect coat will could be as dense as possible, quickly, harsh and close to mendacity. it is going to could be short on the top, including in the ears, the front of the legs and on the ft and ft; it is frequently somewhat longer and heavier coated on the neck. The hair lengthens on the lower back of the legs to the pastern or hock; on the lower back of the thighs it types average breeching. it extremely is not MY common - it extremely is edge of the international breed common for German Shepherds. The long haired domestic dog isn't a separate breed although a effect of a recessive gene. I extremely purely like the look of the long haired puppies and that i'm particular they make severe-high quality pets although they devoid of subject have not got compatibility the classes for the breed. i'm no longer asserting they're going to could be culled or destroyed purely no longer bred!!. BTW - any individual asserting the line have had no hip problems isn't the equivalent as definitely having your domestic dog hip scored. that's domestic dog loss of information!!

This is guidance you should be getting from your breeder and not from the mass audience on the internet. If you have been attending training classes in preparation for the show, you should have the basics. If not, perhaps you are being premature in your desire to go to the ring. It is better to make a good first impression based on knowledge and training of you and your dog. I would strongly encourage you to use your breeder as a mentor in this area.

Do you mean schutzen (sp?) training? My mum's shepard mix responds better to commands in German than english, we think his mother was trained in German. Look up the German commands on a search engine.

The gutteral sounds and low tones I think make more sense to a dog, took me 10 years to figure it out. One day I was at my wit's end with a 105 lb dog who'd grown up with dachshunds. I told him "Halt" like a Nazi from a WWII movie. He stopped immediately, looked at me as if to say, "ok, now what mein kommandant?" But the gentle leader training halter works even better, though he likes the German still.

Read the rules out loud, and envision what that would look like if you were watching someone follow these rules. This will help give you the guidelines on which to build.
