Here put simply is the differences between Plasma and LCD

LCD's: Higher resolution (Sharper),brighter, non-reflective.

PLASMA: Faster processor for movement, (Smoother images) more natural colours (because of higher contrasts),and 3 dimensional look.

Similar prices now in 40" - 42" market.

Most people are buying LCDs, as with HD TV they look that much sharper, etc. If you are a sports fanatic, recommend Plasma still, because of lots of movement, but for general TV and Dvds and sports, LCD. Follow the trend!

Both are great technologies, just different!

Recommend: Samsung/Sony LCDs. Samsung/Panasonic/Pioneer plasmas.

Samsung make a lot of components and screens for other companies.

I would personally buy the latest Sony LCDs, with the Motion Flow Technology. No1 world wide in sales, and very reliable, or the Panasonic Plasmas, also No1 world wide, and very reliable!

Hope this helps.

Buy a copy of this month's "What Hi-Fi and Home Cinema" magazine. This is written by experts who actually understand what is genuinely good or bad in the world of home entertainment.

In it, there is a direct comparison between 7 brand new 37" televisions. The winner of the test was the Panasonic TH-37PX70.

It's a plasma - the losers were all LCDs...

LCD is starting to dominate and with better and better black and colour screens coming on stream now. Even the larger screens are showing amazing clarity. With LCD you have no burn in issues whereas with Plasma that is a big issue especially if you watch channes that have active facilities. LCD is rapidly becoming the manufacturers choice and I think you will see some of the big companies slowly reduce their offerings on plasma.

Mind you home projectors are getting better and better and the new led projectors have a very long life and may replace both !

hhmm they did a test on the gadget show on channel 5 a while ago

its a bit subjective.. i'd go for LCD though , due to plasma being gas based..

although plasma's are supposed to show blacker blacks.. and better image for bigger tv's..

it's either samsung or LG a lot buy, the one with the circle on/off switch. i forget which..

my sisters tv is by bush, cheapo £400-450? job BUT someone who visited said the picture was far better than their sony wega.. or vega?

i dunno my tv is 14+ years old, i'm waiting for it to pack up.. its not even widescreen..lol

LCD is the best all around, call around to some TV service shops and see what their shops are full of, that's the one to avoid.
