and their gifts, not all people but certain ones
who call medums demons. Could it be because they themselves are in a cult, and are told what to believe. And not allowed to think for themselves.

People are prone to be afraid of anything they don't understand. When people are afraid of a thing or a person, a lot of people consider that person or thing to be a bad thing.
When people used to use herbs to help people to get well, a lot of powerful people considered these helpful people to be witches. Maybe, they were people who just understood what plants helped to cure what things! Mediums do things (real ones) that a lot of people don't understand. Since, I've volunteered with the FBI, as i am a medium. I was almost arrested for a murder, last year, just because i called the FBI regarding a murder that had just happened in another city. Before long, that dept. was in my County, coming to pick me up for the murder! Luckily, my regular FBI man was able to explain to them.....how I do this a lot.

I have no problem talking about mediums, in fact I have done often, sometimes to quite large gatherings. I was a medium for quite a long time and then had a personal encounter with Christ. My familiars didn't like it at all but thankfully Jesus set me free. There are many spirits roaming the earth but unless they can testify that Jesus Christ is Lord, which most won't, they are not of God and should not be associated with. To say that Christ is Lord means testifying that every word of His Gospel is true. False spirits will make you believe there are many ways to be 'spiritual' and will even make you feel as if you're doing something really special by being a channel for them, but when it boils down to it, what real meaning does anything they say have. There are many paths to hell and many will walk down them. Find the narrow path. Jesus said 'I AM the Way'

After reading some of the answers here, I want to add, spirits of the dead do not roam the earth. When a person dies it is impossible to contact them and they do not return in any shape or form. The bible states clearly that man is destined to die once and then to face the great judgement. Mediumship encourages people to hang on to their dead and to hold out false hope for the future. Pangel is quite wrong in saying that these spirits are governed by laws. There is only one Law and that was laid down by God. Any spirit not of Him does not follow any law other than to lead mankind away from the truth by whatever means they can.

The people who don't want to talk about mediums or have anything to do with them don't believe that the meduims are demons...they believe that the spirits they call up are demons trying to trick us. Christians are supposed to trust in God and believe that we will all have everlasting life eventually, but that we should not 'meddle' in the afterlife, or what we think is the afterlife, because it's really the devil and his crowd trying to lure us away from God. I don't know about that, but I think it's best not to try to contact the dead. They are gone, we are here and that's how it should stay. If we try to mix up the two it can have a bad effect on our mental health. If we believe, we should trust God, and not need confirmation or any contact with the dead while we are alive!

In the Old Testament, it talks about how King Saul lost his faith in God, before going into battle. He went up a mountain and consulted a medium, the Witch of Endor, and asked her to call up the spirit of the prophet, Samuel. For this, he was condemned to death along with all of his sons save one crippled son who was a friend of David's. The Old Testament forbids the consulting of mediums. Jesus called them"false teachers, and taught his followers to avoid and not listen to them. When the Bible counsels us to develop our gifts and talents, it is not advising us to try and capture the supernatural power of God. This is not the same as Wiccans. Wiccans use natural substances to treat the ills of the sick.
This is natural knowledge.

It's not a gift, it's a curse. These people are spiritually retarded. They're getting involved with entities they no nothing about. I know what I'm talking about, because I dabbled with this a long time ago and never want to go there again.

I don't believe mediums are the work of evil. I really think they can be very helpful because there are so many souls with unfinished work that are trying to move on and so many people left here with questions of the deceased. I think people are afraid of mediumship because they are afraid of their own life ending and what that may mean.

People naturally don't always want to talk about things they don't understand. I've read books but I don't understand it. Maybe mediums themselves don't understand it.
