People say things anonymously that they'd never say if they were in front of your face. Indeed, many people here are only trying to get a rise out of someone, baiting them for the sake of creating an argument. I come here and answer the question I answer because I feel I have something to contribute; I've been through a lot, learned a lot, and have insights into some issues that others have observed (I don't think so, but I'm told so by others). Also, I find it an excellent place to refine my presentation of the things I believe, and by constantly stating my point in various ways, and answering different people, even if it's the same question over and over, I better understand what it is that I truly believe (sweep away the chaff and get to the grain). Mostly, simply because it's a place that desperately needs the Truth of God to be presented in love and respect. No one has to believe me or agree with me, that's not in the Great Commission; only to persent the Truth. In the end, that's all we can do. Each person must choose for themselves, and I try to make that choice as informed as it can be from the Christian perspective (albeit my own humble understanding of it).

I feel your discouragement and totally understand your point. Think about this one; if you help only one; you have helped many! Do not give up on something you started unless you feel it is finished, because you may miss the opportunity to fulfill your purpose of being on this site. We can not save the world or people that do not want what we have to offer, we have to offer it anyway, because there is some that need what we got. It' like baiting your fishing hook with different bait and casting out hoping to get a big fish; all you get is bites, small fish, or even a turtle. We may never know who we touch, help, or lead to the Lord. We can only do what we know to do and that is to give what has been freely given to us for others. Be strong and don't get discouraged, It takes all kinds to make the world go around! It truly isn't about us at all! I am sure there were some that helped you out on this site just as they have helped others. Where there is good, evil will be present.

This is like the steam vent on a pressure cooker - and it's anonymous. You can make a difference - I have received some positive feedback from Y/A - just not very often. Take the good and ignore the bad - works every time!
Even your questions/answers that are treated hatefully may be talking to someone in the background - that's where I often am - and many of the posts cause me to think more about one position or another and some even restore my faith in the basic goodness of each of us - including those with the most venom (they are really in need of a place to vent!)
When steam is vented, it doesn't explode. Just one more service offered by Y/A, don't you think!
Peace.

I agree with you completely. This section of Yahoo! Answers seems to be filled with a high amount of tension and hostility.
However, to answer your question, I feel that this section of the site is a philosophical testing ground for people of all theological and ideological backgrounds. It gives others a chance to hear and be heard (even if no one cares). It's also less likely to result in a physical confrontation if you eventually do manage to piss someone off (such situations may not be avoidable in real world research). Being as honest as possible, asking and answering questions here can easily prepare you for making lifestyle choices that will drastically affect your life (and/or afterlife).

Yahoo doesn't care if we emotionally get hurt. It just has a automated system to respond to any violation notice. Anyone can kick your question when ever they want. How hateful, isnt it. Answering and questioning doesn't help your life get better. It has become an addiction for many. I wonder myself what the hell am i doing being on yahoo answer at 3:30 am now. Yahoo stinks, it brings more hate than any other. But at least i get to meet good people.

I guess it's all a matter of perspective because I've seen very few truly hateful comments here. I see disagreements and some idiots at times, but mostly just opinions. I like that people have their own opinions and voice them. If everyone would stop seeing things as attacks then maybe, just maybe they will see some real messages out there.
God Bless.

R&S provides plenty of opportunity for a person to either widen their perspective or narrow it. It is really your choice as to what is accomplished here. You can choose to try to change everybody els and fail or you can choose to change yourself. The world is a mirror. Everything you experience from other people is only a reflection of what YOU are putting out into the world. If you experience meanness and hate, that is what you are putting out. Take a closer look at yourself. You might learn something.

I would not judge society by any kind of online forum. For some reason people seem to lose common sense and all courtesy in their dealings with people when its anonymous.
I come here mostly for the humor, to be honest. I have learned some. I also want people to know that atheists are real people who can laugh, care and enjoy life.

Sadly it does ... Things will never be as they were in a less then perfect world ......If you are coming here to change or give insight to many think again, but wouldn't it be worth it if you touched just a handful? Or maybe one or two? It takes God to change the masses not man! Think about it.....
I have grown to find out that there's really not many true friends available out there so Cherish the ones at hand....

I don't think this site is a good example of the spectrum. Over time i have seen this site change. Before there were actually questions with substance, but sadly today, there is very little substance here. I suppose that is why people move on, for they outgrow this at length, and shallow questions are, well, .............just that, shallow. and shallowness doesn't change anything.
