Lately, I've been getting heartburn, sometimes that lasts for around 24 hours. It's not always necessarily typical "heartburn," but sometimes, just a funny feeling in my throat, as I've swallowed a pill without enough water. This has been happening for nearly 3 weeks now, every couple days or so. I've taken Zantac and Tums, neither of which have helped very much. I've been to the doctor once, when it was pretty severe, and she had no idea what to tell me, which was awfully disconcerting.

Any suggestions?

What you eat is going to affect your stomach. Do not eat any fried foods, fatty foods, spicy foods, caffeine in any form including cola drinks, acid foods and junk food. Start eating a well balanced diet. Have oatmeal with milk and bananas in the morning. For lunch a sandwich, yogurt and raisins. For dinner skinless chicken breast, brown rice and green beans. This is just an example of how to eat.

Papaya fruit has enzymes that are healing to the stomach. Eat this several times a day. You can also purchase at any health food store papaya tablets and chew them when you have regular meals and in between. This will help calm down your stomach.

Do this for two weeks if you don't feel better see your medical doctor.

Limit quantity of food - portion control
Small bites - chew well at least 20 times per bite
Quality foods - mostly fruits and vegies, some lean meat
Eat early - not within 3 hours of sleep to aid digestion.
Water or other nonsugar drink - quantity = your weight divided by 2 times ounces daily

This could be the start of acid reflux. Keep track of your diet, to try to figure out what is triggering the heartburn, and don't eat right before you go to bed. You may want to visit your doctor again too, and expalin the symptoms clearly.

Honey you might have Acid Reflux. The doctor will test you and give you medication. My daughter was very sick with this in 2004. She even thought she was having a heart attack.
