Parents you need to go back to school and really find out what they are telling your kids in class. But the problem is that if you sit there and listen, they will clean up their act and put on a "dog and Pony show" just for you. Why not give your kid a mini taperecorder and record the teachers lessons?

Public School teachers forget several rules. One: these kids are not your kids. Two: you are a government worker and the school is to be neutral when it comes to Churches. Public School teachers have no right making churches look bad and not tell of the good things churches have done. Three: You know evaluations are a dog and pony show for many teachers.

Why are public schools so scared of "Home Schooling," "Charter Schools," and Private Schools?" Why are so many parents opting out of the Public Schools? This indicates that something is wrong with Public Schools and Unions don't want to admit it. They are instead on the attack. They are not interested in fixing schools, they are interested in pushing their own agendas.

It sounds to me like you're blowing a lot of hot air. You're making some incredibly sweeping generalizations about public schools, and especially about public school teachers. As a rule, modern education is NOT anti-Christian. There are going to be SOME teachers who overstep their role as a teacher and spout off some anti-religious remarks, but that doesn't mean it's part of the curriculum, it doesn't mean they're doing their job, and it most definitely doesn't mean all teachers (or even most) are like this. I find your assumptions to be extremely offensive and completely unfounded. You forget that many teachers themselves are religious and would never teach against their own beliefs. They're also not teaching their own beliefs as it's not part of their job description. A good teacher guides her students to learn how to think critically of all ideas and to support opinions with research-based facts. This is a skill that can help both Christians and non-Christians alike.

So no, modern education isn't anti-Christian.

Very much so, every pagan religion out there is perfectly acceptable except Christianity. Evolution = Naturalism, New age = druidism, Environmentalism = druidism. Harry potter = witch craft Now they are even making arrangements to allow Islam into public schools, San Diego, New Jersey. All but Christ.

Science and education and religion have conflicted many times, but really don't need to. Still as Copernicus, Galileo, DaVinci and other found, religious zealots have a problem with certain types of knowledge and especially scientific knowledge.

the two are not mutually exclusive nor do they need to be. I believe that God created the world and allowed it to evolve much the way science thinks.

You can reconcile creation and evolution and it is not that hard.

I am a minister and religious scholar and I DO NOT want religion in public schools. If you really examine the potential problems, it doesn't need to be there. Which religion? Which prayer? Doesn't make sense to sanction it there and kids pary in school all the time as do many teachers. just not out loud (save that for church).

God bless us, everyone!

Where are the followers of the anti-christ going to get their education and Ideology if not public school. This is the beginning of the new one world government which is the next thing they will preach at school.
See to your children or condemn them to lies.
God Bless!

Not particularly, the curriculum just revolves around things that can be supported with proof and strong evidence, but even in my science classes throughout high school, my teachers supported the possibility of the existence of a God, I was taught creationism and such in my public high school, I was also taught evolution, and the arguments for each, and this was in southern Wisconsin, a liberal state.

So I believe I have to say no.

I dont believe it is. They arent anymore against those than any other religion in school. Its just that we have more Christians and Catholics in this country so its the one everyone is going to pay more attention to. Religion can be taught in a church there is no need for it to be in school. Kids do need one place where they are free from being influenced by someone elses beliefs. No matter what religion or belief system. Let them get older than give the choice to them to make. Thats my opinion.

Oh, my God, you bet it is. I don't see so much anti-Catholic, but so much wrong info taught to kids, it's appalling. Maybe it's more in my part of the country, as we are all so diverse here, with many Asians, Indians (from India) and Russians. So, you've got atheists, Buddists, Hindis, Muslims, and a few Christians. The books in public school in middle school are the worst. The descripton of the wars between Muslims and Christians, are so biased it turns my stomach. The fact is that there was murder perpertrated on both sides, by both sides. There were attrocities done by the Catholic Church, and of course these are accounted for tooth and nail. But, there are wars described in the books, that were started by the Muslims, but the words used are very different. When the Christians attack, it's a "massacre". When the Muslims attack, it's a "battle". It's even funny! Well, it would be funny, if it weren't so blatantly biased against Christians, in it's pathetic attempt to be politically correct. Every crime of Christianity is dredged up, year after year after year. yet, uh, do the kids learn about the crimes of Muslims? no. The Muslim leaders are heros, and I kid you not, that is exactly how it is written in these books. Check them out! My friend, these are California public education books.

Christmas in the classroom is a joke. You get one day of "red and green". Yet, our school district celebrates Festival of Lights, which is COMPLETELY an Indian religious tradition. It's a beautiful tradition, yes, but ahem, why is it then that the Christmas tradition is outlawed? Festival of Lights gets a big old parade, lots of presentations to the kids, so that they know what it's all about. Do you think they will allow a mother or father in there to describe what Christmas is about? NO WAY, unless you are talking about our Lord Santa. Then you've got Kwanza thrown in there, which isn't even a religious event! It was dreamed up by some guy who wanted a holiday, right?

Someone decided that the kids, being in California, should perhaps learn something about the missions (which run up and down the state), so they set about to explain that. Oh, now that is entertaining. I didn't know, but apparently the Padres were in the slave business. They made slaves of the native Americans. Funny how I can't find ONE reference, in actual legitimate written history, of a Native American being enslaved. They were WORKED very hard! They were given food and shelter, IF they decided to work for the church. Key word: IF. If I were African American, I would be quite insulted to have the word slavery, the word describing the worst crime in history, and a word describing the forced servitude, rape and abduction of family members at whim, which actually happened to my ancestors, used to describe the OFFERS made by the Catholic priests. But no, I guess these days you can throw words around at whim, especially if it helps to take a shot at the church in a terrible way, and "educate" the children.

One last thing: the public educators out here seem to think that because we are mostly a "judeo christian" society, that the kids will just learn by osmosis, about Christianity. Uh, think again! I have taught many students, who do not have a clue who Adam and Eve are, what the Garden of Eden is, who Jesus Christ was ("isn't he the American god??")....they don't have a clue! How can they? Their parents don't know, their parents are immigrants, and they are giving them their own tradition and religion, which is completely understandable. However, this is America, this is the west, and these things are referred to constantly in literature, in politics, etc. The kids should have a basic education, instead of refusing to teach them something so prominent in our society. For this reason, our society will be completely different, in two decades. The amount of atheism taught to children, from their parents, boggles my mind. And, the arrogance and attitude of superiority of these parents, teaching their kids idiotic things like "religion is for peasants, those who can't think, those who don't understand science yada yada" that kind of ignorant crap, is SO unoriginal and cliche now, it's not even funny anymore.

The amount of people on this yahoo, on the net, who think that Jesus is a fake, some stupid political fabrication, just blows my mind and saddens me. What the hell has happened? When did we sink to such an uneducated society?

My kid's middle school teacher told the class that the Catholics believe that the Pope is divine. The real sad thing? I wasn't even surprised! I wasn't even shocked! That type of misrepresentation is SO common! I got on my kid's case, saying "why didn't you correct her???!!!!!" So, I called the teacher, and talked to her, and she really thought that she was correct, until I explained to her what DIVINITY means to Catholics, and that ONE person is divine, and it sure as heck ain't the Pope.

Alright, I think it's time for some blood pressure medication.

The modern world is anti-Christian, Catholic or otherwise. Turn on the TV and see for yourself. The news media, TV shows, movies, books, you name it. Christians are all cast into the role of uneducated, white-trash Bible thumpers. We're not allowed to be educated people with an informed opinion that happens to differ from the scientific explanation of things. Of course, I can remember hearing about times when things were reversed. Maybe our ancestors dug our graves for us (figuratively speaking, of course).

That's why when my baby's old enough for school it's homeschool time. I don't trust the public school system anymore.
