Can I use a DVD Player bought in US, in India? Or do I need a transformer to convert the voltage?

I just looked it up and standard voltage all over India is 220,
double the United States' 110, so you would need the same
kind of transformer you use when traveling to Europe.

that isn't necessarily true.

many modern electronics are multi-voltage. IE, they will operate from 110 OR 220. Then all you need is an adapter because the outlet in India would be different then the US so you can't plug it in without the adapter.
