Possible excuses:

1. Ignorance. Its possible that a person fails to disrespect the horrible religion of Islam because they are ignorant of it, however, almost all armed conflict in the entire world is Islamic, therefore we are talking about a seriously ignorant person.

2. Stupidity. Many people are just plain stupid. For example, many people believe that any belief which is commonly classified as a "religion" automatically deserves respect. Such stupidity and weakness hardly deserves further mention other than to say that there is no magical event that occurs when a belief is labeled a religion. Islam proves that religious belief can be even more savage than the most savage non-religious belief (ex: Nazism).

3. Self-Hating. These are the people who answer the famous life-boat question with "I would sacrifice my worthless self and let the other more important people live". Self-haters are the apologists for Islamic insanity. We deserve the insanity and horror of Islam somehow.

You have a point...but I think that every religion is plainly stupid and ignorant.

Simply disrespecting the Q'uran will not change people. Disrespecting people based on their faith will not change them from acting upon that faith.

We are not to behave in such a way that our self righteousness sinks us to a level with those who do hate us, because it will simply feed the hate...

I am not saying to ever appease or bow down to Islam, which I believe to be one of the greatest deceptions forced upon millions of people throughout history...but I am saying to love the individual Muslim you might encounter...if you are a Christian...be an example of Christ...show the truth through action and love your neighbor as yourself.

Only bringing a light to a darkened room can one find their way out. Muslims are in a spiritual darkness...they need a light, not a continuation of the threats and fear Islam already offers them.

in this world we have been given right to free will.
Each person can believe whatever they want.
I do not disrespect anyone for more than a moment should they create the need.
It is not of your business to cause conflict with this other faith.
You cannot possibly even know the truth about it anyways. Go over there, join them in service, see it for what it truely is, and then you can come back and talk about it.
It is not the way of the christ to bring hatred in response to hatred.
To disrespect any of God's creation is to disrespect all of it.

1) "all armed conflict in the entire world is Islamic" - wrong. Columbia, the communist insurgency in the Philipines, Laos, Peru, Sri Lanka, Papua new Guniea, various Indian insurgencies, Cote D'ivoire - there are many wars in the world which are not Islamic.

2) If Islam is to be held as savage and barbaric because of the actions of some Muslims, then Christianity is to be held as savage and barbaric. Christian americans are responsible for the war in Iraq - there was no insurgency before the invasion - this insurgency kills hundreds daily. Christians were responsible for IRA and UVP massacres AND the massacres by the UK government against Irish people. Christians are repsonsible for ETA bombings. Christians are responsible for abortion clinic bombings. By your logic, therefore, Christianity is a religion of violence.

3) So you would answer the life-boat question "no, I would save my sorry self and watch as hundreds of people died". So call me stupid but I'd rather not live and be quite so selfish and cowardly.

Well some of them might just ignore Islam. I myself ignore Islam because I live in a country far away from Islam''s power.

Why stoop to their level of hate and intolerance?
trying to win them over to a more tolerant and open stance with hate filled rhetoric is not only pointless but dangerous.

I don't hate those that don't disrespect Islam because they are proving what the islamic people say about us wrong.

the sad thing... i halfway agree with you. but keep in mind the well informed ones don't share the extremist views.

it's important to respect muslims, but extremists (or even people who agree with them in principle) are a different story.

i could site some examples, but i don't want to sound intolerant. but will say: ppl that danced in the streets on 9/11.. i have no respect for

More atrocities have been committed in the "xian" gawd's name than any other religion. Read history for yourself, and not from your preacher before you go around criticizing other violent religions.

P.S. Notice my last statement? I'm not denying that Islam is a violent religion. I'm telling YOU that Christianity is just as, if not more, violent than Islam.

Listen to some of the right wing "Christian" ministries and tell me that they don't sound extremely "hatefilled".
