If cost is a problem and keeping you from adopting, could you love a child that was a little older like 2-8 yrs or a child with medical or mental special needs? If so, consider adoption from the US foster care system. The cost will vary by state, but for us it was less than $3000 and if the child has special needs or is part of a sibling group there is assistance called adoption subsidy that is paid to you to help you raise the adopted child. This can range from $250 to $2000 a month depending onthe child's situation and special needs. If you want a newborn that is healthy in the US $20000 is average out of the country is $18000-$30000.
