I am going to see Cirque du Soleil in Toronto at the end of August and was wondering if anyone could recommend a hotel in the downtown area (I believe the show is on Cherry St) or know of a good website that offers hotel packages for the area....my boyfriend and I are having a hard time trying to find something decent...

Try the Downtowner on Pembroke St. It isn't fancy but its cost effective. Its also on a very quiet street close to the bus station. I also suggest you book now.

That is very close to Labor Day and that is a very heavy tourist time. You're going to have to get to Cherry street by taxi or bus. The Toronto Transit Commission sells day passes and weekly passes for reasonable cost.

Hey,

You can try the web site below. Click on the "where to STAY" tab at the top of the page. My personal suggestion is Metropolitan Hotel; a little pricey but real nice, modern, clean and right downtown.

Good luck and have fun!

Hotels in Toronto are all pretty much on par with each other. That is to say, 4 stars will all be about the same with each other price wise.

If you don't mind a short cab ride, I recommend the Westbury.

The link below should help you.

I frequently stay at the Sheraton Center, it is across from Toronto city hall.
It is within easy walking distance of good restaurants, shows, shopping, and Young street that every tourist should see.
It is also only a couple of blocks from China town.
The hotel is not cheap, but it is an excellent place to stay.

Stay at the delta Chelsea
As for hotel packages, try Tourisim ontario, or call the hotel.
You may also want to try Kayak. com or travlelosity, or hotels.com or one of those other dicount hotels sites
