Everyone in the Bible is an example to us...........
However, I believe Judas really believed in Jesus - how could he not? He SAW the miracles, etc. I think he was just trying to manipulate circumstances to force Jesus' hand to take over as the Messiah.
Remember, Judas was a Zionist who wanted the government overthrown and the Jews in charge. He's a good example that our circumstances, no matter how urgent, are not always the barometer for what is most important.
We want our problems fixed now, God has bigger issues with us.
The Bible says that Judas killed himself. I think the Word implies that he was sorry for the way things turned out - not necessarily for the sin of betrayal he committed.
However, we demonize him too much. He was an ordinary person - You're right - he should have repented instead. He didn't understand the time for Jesus to take over had not come.

Judas was a thief all along. He lived a lie in his own heart and thought he could keep it concealed.
Sooner or later, what you really are is going to come to light.
Repent, and believe the Gospel.

Great question!!!! Robert P provides excellent modern day illustration of WHO Judas might be.
There is no other way to be saved and stay saved than to repent and repent daily. The Word of God is clear on this one.
God Keep Blessing You in your ministry!!!

Even the devil knows and believes there is a God, and He knows Jesus is the son of God too, and boy can he quote scripture. He knows the word.
But, the devil is not saved. God requires us to live what we know is truth, to live like Jesus did, free of sin by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and the fact that when Jesus died, HE gave us His authority to battle and overcome sin, as He did. He obeyed God perfectly, and we are required to obey Him too. Jesus is coming soon, and we need to get this. We are either fully His or we arent His at all. If we live as the world, what do we have to offer them?? LOOK AT ME I AM JUST LIKE YOU< JESUS CoULDNT CHANGE ME EITHER> Ludircrous. We show what Jesus has done for us and what He can also do for them, and then they come..... amen

They found what may be the "book of Judas" the gospel of Judas. That was left out of the bible. Judas was doing what Jesus told him to do. He followed Jesus to the end and his name became mud. But who cares. It's just a story.

Jesus picked Judas and Judas played an intergal part in the will of the Father by fulfilling the scripture
"For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother." (Matthew 12:50)
James 1:23,24,NIV) "For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.
(MT 16:21) From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.
(MT 16:22,23) Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. "Never, Lord!" he said. "This shall never happen to you!" Jesus turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men."(NIV)
(below is content of an article that I have cited)
Peter was directly called "Satan." Satan had to enter Judas in order for him to fulfill the Scriptures. In other words, Judas was not capable of betraying Jesus by himself! He had to be taken over. Peter did not need the help of Satan to not be mindful of the things of God. It was perfectly natural for him. When Satan wanted to "sift" Peter, Jesus prayed for "Satan" Peter. Why didn't Jesus just pray for Judas? Because Judas had to do what he did to fulfill Scripture that the redemption of the whole world from its bondage to sin might be accomplished! Judas was not a hearer only, as Peter was, but a "doer of the word." Not only was he a doer, but Jesus hastened Judas along to get it done. "What you are doing, do more quickly." (John 13:27) Judas fulfilled his purpose for being born, and when we get to that grand banquet, he will have "returned to his own place." (Acts 1:25)

Yes, this is one of the biggest problems with current-day American Christians. They have faith that Jesus was the Son of God, and they stop there because they always hear "Only by faith you are saved."
Even the Devil believes God exists. You have to have faith and LOVE the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind.

Judas was an example of allowing Satan to take over ones thoughts because of the greed within his heart, attempting to force Christ to do his will.....
Judas pretended/ lip service that he was saved/ believed when in fact he had other ideas for Christ kingdom....

Judas is a great example of the untruth of "once saved, always saved." Judas failed to endure until the end, and thus, he has no hope for salvation.
Judas Iscariot made a bargain with those who Jesus said made proselytes that were subjects of Gehenna twice as much so as themselves, and who were themselves liable to the “judgment of Gehenna.” (Matt. 23:15, 33) Judas rejected the sacrificial “Lamb of God.” Thus he has no sacrifice to be offered for his willful sin. Logically he became a “son of destruction.” When he committed suicide, he went to Gehenna. He will have no resurrection, even in the flesh on earth.—John 6:70, 71; 17:12.
