I am old fashion, I love to read about the days of the Great Awakening, ( also the reformation ) the preachers during this time were real bible preaching men of God.
I tend to keep in view Jeremiah 6:16, " Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.
God be with you,

I didn't know anything about it until now. So you can gage me on this answer:
If what I have learned about the 'Emergent Church Movement" is accurate by this article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emerging_Church
Then I must be very careful to explain that the typical explanations for things rarely fit me completely. I find that there is often error mixed into truth with many things which are Earthly.
But I do see that there is possibility for all sorts of error in technology, especially relativism. I find that relativism is rampant on the internet. People often trade information from site to site as if they were equal, which is obviously not true in most cases if you ask me.
I still do not understand the terms postmodernism and modernism, perhaps a college course would be in order for me so that I could gather a bit more sophisication on matters such as these.
But I would never abandon the chance to bring the Gospel to sites like this. No ,matter what harm something might bring into the world, I find that the Gospel is upmost in importance for me to illustrate and explain.
My roomate brought up that Jesus action figures and other biblical characters are apparently available now. He asked me if I thought that it would endanger someone to involve themselves with idolatry. I said, " Anything can involve someone with idolatry." But the chance to do some good with such things is too obvious. To teach and illustrate the stories in the Bible to children or those who might have that mentality in particular.
So evil can be spread, but thos with the truth can also use it to the advantage of the powerful Gospel message. That is what I think about that.

The Emerging church movement is necessary in that as the culture changes, the method of spreading the Gospel must change. The message however must not change. The Emergent church movement of Mclaren and others is postmodern to the core and must be fought against.

My opinion is that there are obvious advantages and disadvantages to it... and, the church will experience great upheaval by continuing down this road. I - personally, do not feel any overwhelming need to go one way or the other with it. Change is inevitable, but I do not like the changes that are harmful to me and others...and, a lot of what is going to happen will hurt people.

I think that many children of God are seeing things of Biblical proportion, as recorded in Revelation and other places being fulfilled before our eyes. From a Pre-modern perspective, of course.

Are you kidding?
Well, you asked for my opinion, so here it is:
The Emergent Church movement is a movement away from the Bible and into a politically correct system of something other than religion and faith. It therefore is from the pit of he||.

If the Gospel can survive 2000 years of Catholicism, I'm not worried about the newest, latest package it comes in. I let God worry about that, and tell people to stop doing wrong, for Christ's sake....

Yet another wave we don't need.
I think people are too accepting of ones that are given to change, that are willing to move the landmarks the forefathers have set.

If your ministry collects money and you survive off of that money, then your ministry is quite modern.....
