Everyone I know works for (or at) either a bank or an insurance company.
Their (Our) actual occupations vary widely though, accountant, financial adviser, lawyer, manager, trader, cleaner, cafeteria worker, computer programmer, language teacher.
Biochemistry is big too.
There are quite a few restaurants and hotels too, and, yeah, probably more ski instructors per capita than most countries. Also au pairs and cleaning ladies, and train engineers/tram and bus drivers. Hardly anyone works in the grocery stores! (Compared to Canada.)
ETA: I disagree with the people who say that occupations are the same as anywhere else. Yes, obviously, for the most part the same work gets done, but there are a lot of jobs that TONS of people have in say Canada (where I'm from) that far fewer people have here. A large grocery store in Canada would probably have 200 employees (many part-time); one here would have about 20. Restaurants also have much less staff, parking lots often have none. A lot more things are automated here, and salaries are so high that, for one thing, more people can afford luxuries, and for another, service/retail industries tend to be understaffed. And there's more public transit than just about anywhere, so obviously there are more public transit workers!

when I lived there, all my American and Canadian friends
were either engineers (guys) or dental hygienists (girls).
There are lots of careers in banking or the tourism industry.
