I may be working full time as a customer service rep. I was wondering if I would still be eligible to fly free. Do they allow you to fly free anytime you want even if it's after you get off work?

Depends on what your airline does. Some let you fly for free. some charge a small fee ($25-50). Check with your airline. Also you might be able the fly other airline to for the same small fee. ie you work for Southwest and get to fly jetblue.

But all this is standby, So have lots of back up flights.

As others have said, it depends on the airline. You will have some sort of travel benefits. For instance I can tell you that you can fly Delta anywhere in the world Delta and Delta Connection fly for free. We also have the option to buy discounted standby tickets on other airlines, which range from 4% to 10% of the full (walk-up) coach fare depending on the pass agreement with that other airline, which we normally just use as a back-up plan if our airline is full. It's always better to fly free than pay-- even if it's only $25 or so. Trust me, you'll get used to flying free or at a discount and you'll not want to pay unless you need to.

It depends on the airline and if you are a contract employee or work for the airline itself. When you say "customer service rep." do you mean telephone reservations or are you working at the counter. Most agents working at the airport counters are airline employees and do get free travel on their own airline and reduced rate or service charge travel on other airlines - standby of course. Telephone agents if they work for the airline directly usually do get the same travel benefits as the airport employees. If you work for an outsourced call center, however, you are not an employee of the airline and therefore your benefits package will be from the company that runs the call center.
