Metalliban - how far will religious discrimination at airport security check-ups go?

Metallica's James Hetfield was delayed longer than usual at the security check at a British airport because some racist Islamophobe security lad interogated him when he saw Hetfield's "Taliban-like" beard.

Come on people! This is not just plain stupid. This is religious discrimination. They even did it to the Metallica guy just because they thought he was a Muslim!

First off,

Franco...you are wrong.....most terrorists are actually Republican or Representitives of Gov't. They have done more killing, plundering and slandering of other Races, Countries and Peoples than any Muslim ever has.

And Widewillie..The percentage of Muslims that teach violence and killing are very small compared to the number of Muslims that are actually in the world. There are good and bad followers of every faith. One of the reasons why people believe that Islam teaches violence is because thats how the media portrays it. Face it you wont see clips of "everyday Muslims" on the news. You know the kind that fulfill the obligations of their faith and work hard everyday to feed and care for their families and live their lives in peace and compassion with the world around them. Why dont you see this in the news?.....Because that doesnt make for good tv thats why, its not going to boost ratings is it? So all you see about Islam on television are the radicals because it boosts ratings and provides a sick, twisted justification for the war in Iraq, the occupation of Afghanistan and the oppression of Muslims in places like Palestine. Read a book on Islam you fool...like the Quran!!!! and maybe you will gain some understanding.

Its a shame that people have to be subjected to the ignorance of others wether it be at the Airport or here on Y!A

Despite reports otherwise, James Hetfield was not detained by U.K. airport security last week on his way to performing in London for Live Earth.

Britain's The Times claims that the Metallica musician was held and questioned due to what friends call his "Taleban-like beard." According to the paper, Hetfield was briefly questioned before "red-faced" officials realized he was a rock star.

Today, a rep for Hetfield tells Usmagazine.com that none of it ever happened. "It's false. It’s not true.”

UPDATE: thanks cantthinkofagoodname for pointing me in the right direction: In the last few weeks there have been a lot of rumors flying around saying that I was detained by airport security in London while on tour in Europe. I'm here to tell you that it never happened . . . pure fabrication! The story is simply that there is no story . . . it's scary how gullible and easily fooled the press is!

UPDATE 2: Now I get thumbsdowned for showing that metallica themselves say this never happend. LOL Sorry if the facts are inconvenient with what you would prefer to believe. I wasn't aware islam was a race by the way, so now we have 4 races on earth? Caucasoid, mongoloid, ******* and islamoid?

You're right right...it's silly...but 100% necessary.

And, this type of "religious discrimination" will (AND SHOULD) continue until the Muslim community as a whole decides it actually wants it to stop. Until Muslims stop protecting and helping the radical extremist elements WITHIN THIER OWN RELIGION who want to kill any and all non-muslims....the rest of the world needs to protect itself...even if it means stooping to this admittedly low level.

You can't have it both ways.

Well, although I do not think it is right to assume that all people who look Muslim or all people who are Muslim are out to kill all of us, I frankly don't know how else we are to protect ourselves from those that do wish harm to us. Do you have a more logical suggestion?
