yes, there is a good reason why you see alot of painters wearing white; especially if they are true colorist. white does not reflect color onto your canvas. wall or other paint surfaces. If you wore red, for example, you might get the reflective color of that red inhibiting your ability to mix or paint the real color you were trying to mix. Color does matter.

Another advantage is..yes it it cooler to wear; it reflects heat so it is more comfortable when working.

I don't wear white. I usually were old painted jeans and a tshirt , sometimes a painter apron just incase the paint doesn't spill on my clothes.

It really doesn't matter what color they wear because all they need the clothes for is to wear it so it wont get on the clothes they use for other activities. So, thats the reason why painters wear white colored clothing.

Mostly the ones who work outside to because its cooler in the heat than dark colors.

Cuz color cost money, the cloths are considered rags. Why spend money on rags.
