When I was younger and live in my old hometown my parish had 6 churches all with in ten minutes of eachother. All of them were filled on sundays, even with young people. I went back to see the town and only two are open now! That really depressed me to see my old parish dying off and I dont wanna see that happen, but I dunno what to do.

Before you can make Catholicism "cool",
you have to make it SAFE for young boys.
Unfortunately, the Pope has done little or nothing to make that a reality.
Besides, going to church "because it's cool" defeats the real reason for going. Don't you agree?

Frankly, the current media coverage of the Catholic church overrides any shiny happy memories you have of your childhood's Sunday Masses.
If you are sincere, and trying to save only one church, volunteer like crazy. Organize a bazaar, a bake sale, family events with jumpers and balloons. Make people interested in taking their families there.
But none of it is going to make Catholicism cool. That's way over your head and way beyond repair.

OK... catholic church has two really cool things going for it:
1) crusaders- but you can't raise an army. and hopefully realize invading the middle east would only make that bad situation worse. not a good way to go. :(
2) exorcism- email the pope and tell him to do away with that "they've gotta make the walls bleed" policy. start exorcising schizophrenics. perpetuate the notion that illness is caused by demons. nerds and sci fi fans from all over will start coming in. i'll be there! if demons are real, noone has more than me. lol :)

It is at times like this that you must have faith. The gates of hell shall never prevail against Christs true Church. Many Protestants are jealous of the Catholic Church and it's primacy, that is why it is so hated. Human nature rebels against authority, it is no surprise that they rebel against the Church Christ established.

I am not a Catholic, but I understand your feelings. It is disappointing to see a church you love, and one that once was growing and active, slowly fading away.
The answer, however, is not to make church "cool". When we try to make church entertaining, popular to men, or fashionable, we have the wrong focus. A church should be concerned with pleasing God, not pleasing men!
Notice 2 Timothy 4:1-4, "I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at[a] His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables."
No mater what the desires of men were, no matter whether it was convenient or not, Timothy was told to "preach the Word."
A church should not try to please men, but try to please God! They should try for a closer relationship with God by teaching and doing what His word says! When a church does this, they will grow, not only in number, but in faith also!
Galatians 1:10 says, "For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ."

You cannot do anything because the church has already shown that the Money and the almighty dollar is God!! The sex abuse scandal has cost them their honesty their dignity and their last shred of legitimacy. The arrogance and hate for gays and women are finally catching up with them so The catholic church id Dead and its about time. can you say alleluia

First you need to investigate why it is in the condition it is in. Then you take those areas and present them to God and ask Him IF He would have you do anything about those particular areas and if so, what woudl that be. PRAYER PRAYER PRAYER!!! You have know that it is the will of God for you to do something for that parish.
Im curious to know what it is that is deficient in the church. Pls email me and let me know.

See all those ugly and hate-filled answers you got? Those are people who are jealous and who hate what they do not understand. Dare I say that they aren't cool enough to be Catholic? :)
In this day and age, it's not easy or popular to be Catholic. So I admire what you want to do.
Personally, I happen to know a lot of cool Catholics. So from one cool Catholic to another...keep on being spunky girl!

your pope just lost his mind- he thinks that every other from of christianity is "defective" (remember: this is the man your doctrine holds as infallible)
Secondly, there seems to be this prevailing mentality that the church is above the law; pedophile priests are hidden and allowed to commit more abuse. Separate laws for clergy? that sounds like something I would expect to find in iran
