I've never met a buddhist or wiccan, for example, that didn't understand this and needed to ask.

Apparently you have never met a Muslim. If you don't believe the way they do, you are an infidel and are either made subserviant or you get your head sawed off. Christians believe their religion is just as true as other's feel their's is true. You only want to pick on Christians and are blind to the truth. Suit yourself. Maybe God is trying to get your attention or you just don't talk to anyone of other faiths. Try talking to an athiest. They believe their religion is the truth. Or talk to a global warming nut; that is a false religion that they believe is true. What world are you living in?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I do know I would rather sit on a bus or a plane beside a Wiccan or a Buddhist than a radical Christian who feels compelled to convert someone at every opportunity when all I want to do is enjoy the scenery or read my book. Would it be rude to turn to this person and say, "Buzz Off!"?

Well you just met a Wiccan who has no need to ask. I do not ever try to convince anyone about what I believe. It’s personal. My experiences have led me to my beliefs. I am aware that I am finite, and The God I believe in is infinite. You may have some ideas that are lacking in my belief, I may need to hear your viewpoints. And visa-versa. I enjoy sharing what I believe, I know I have a religion that makes sense. If nothing else, My God makes sense. My beliefs do not remain static and dead, just as my relationship with God remains alive and active. That said, it means I need to keep learning. My finite brain certainly does not hold all the answers. Perhaps if we all got together, we would have a larger, clearer picture of what it is we believe in? Idk

Blessed Be

Those other religions don't denounce the faith of others, and they are capable of coexisting with others peacefully. Those religions also don't have an exclusive set of dogmatic rules that state: you have to believe this and maybe our God will like you enough to reward you. Instead, they focus on the responsibility of the individual.

Back in the day, when the Jews lived amongst the various Pagan groups, they needed to exclude themselves from the other people to make themselves unique. After Christianity debuted, it started off as a sect of Judaism, and so it was separated from the Pagan traditions of the day. However, after the Christians realized that the Jews weren't going to adapt their beliefs, they needed to separate themselves from the Jews as well.

There are many different types of Christians , and many different types of religions. For starters religion is man made and will not get anybody to Heaven. If anyone says Their religion is the way they are liar and a cheat. The Bible states that Jesus is the way the truth and the light. No one cometh to the Father but by me (Jesus). Jesus has done all the work and presented himself as a sacrifice for anyone that will just accept him as The Son of God who died on the cross for our sins, was resurected 3 days later and now sits on the right hand throne of God.

Christianity is based on love and the promise of eternal life. The Bible teaches us to go out and spread the truth as an act of love. Some other religions that are considered "open minded" are more accurately, indifferent.

Because they are the ones who NEED to have everyone believe the same as they do in order to be at peace with themselves. That's a way of saying that they're right to believe so, you see... It's a problem of insecurity

Although Christians are not the only ones who do this; many other religions are okay with just believing they'll be the only ones to go to whatever they call "Heaven" or know Revelation... or they understand that maybe God has different shapes and names, according to tradition (although i wouldn't count on it)

I think that's the basic attitude of monotheism, but not all Christians are pushy about it. And I have met fellow Pagans who get very heated in demonstrating how their own paths are the right ones. Face it: humans get passionate about their spiritualities. Some folk are just more extroverted than others.

I myself am Muslim, and our faith does not say 'Kill those who are non-muslim' or 'kill those who dont believe in Islam' or kill anything!! Unfortunately its some of the people who are extremeists who feel and think that way. So if a certain group of Muslims do believe in that, does not mean ALL Muslims do, and it does not mean our faith condones it. Its such a stereotype view some of u non-muslims have!
I would never dream of going around and urging others to take an interest in my faith, each to their own!

actually it's something more typical to monotheistic religions, so you'd hear this kind of comment from their adherents. the "old testament" is full of smiting other religions (see for instance elijah offing 450 priests of baal), christians of various denominations have not just said it but actually made people convert as have muslims.
polytheistic religions, by definition, are more accepting of other dieties because what's another few in a whole pantheon?
