For Jesus said I come in my Father's name and you believe me not, for another shall come in his own name and you will believe him.

Any man that heareth MY WORDS and doeth is like unto a wise man who buildt his house on a rock.

For the Holy Ghost will bring to your remembrance whatsoever I HAVE SAID UNTO YOU.

For grace and TRUTH came by Jesus Christ

Moses gave you not that bread from heaven

When was the last time you heard the Words Jesus spoke in His sermon on the mount, verse by verse and nothing was left out ?

If one believes the New Testament is the inspired word of God, many people (but perhaps not enough) are taught from the words of Jesus Christ. If one does not believe it to be so (and also feels the same way about other religious texts), then no one is taught anything but the traditions of man. When I was in college, there was much discussion in theology class about the influence Paul had on the development of Christianity. Particularly in his letters he establishes rules of what to believe and how to behave. An excellent example of this is I Corinthians 11, verses 1-10, in which he announces that women must cover their heads in church, and men must not. I have doubts whether Christ ever took an interest in the subject, but it meant quite a bit to Paul.

As I can understand some frustration on the part of the individual, you have to look at the situation for what it is. If ministers and priest were to preach only on the words of Jesus, they would have run out of things to say by now. Since Jesus is the Way, it is also important for people to see they way the are going and how far they may stray from the clear path of righteousness. The problem lay not in the tool but the teachers. It is my personal opinion that if less time were spent trying to follow Paul and measure up to Jesus, then actual work, meaning help could be done.

All cultures are differnt in the World. Christians are not taught by culture.
Christians come from all cultures but what makes them different is that they are Born again of the Spirit and of the Water. This is a free gift of the Salvation that The Lord Jesus is offering.
So Christians are not taught to be born again, it not something you pound inside a soul ,it something that happens to your soul. The reason is that being born again is a new given spiritual life because they have that real experience of having receiving the Healing of the soul having accepted Jesus as Lord in their heart, and have a real two way comunication with The Father ,the Son and ,the Holy Spirit. Jesus did a lot of speaking while he was with us on Earth, but unfortunately he didn't do any writing that we know of.

So his words had to be written down by other people -- men who either followed him themselves (John, Peter, Mark, James) or men who'd heard about him (Paul, Matthew, Luke, etc.)

So we now read about Jesus's work and words through the writings of other men.

I absolutely believe that the Holy Spirit was guiding them as they wrote the gospels/epistles.

I absloutely DON'T believe that the Holy Spirit took over their wills, and foced them to write things that were totally error free.

Since they came from men, even men guided by God, they're still likely to contain those men's prejudices, stereotypes, and the society they grew up in.

Does that mean they're false? No! They DO contain God's truth. It just means that God's truth is strong enough and loving enough to come through even the frailties and weaknesses of human beings.

It means that even though the words were written by fallable men, God's truth still shines through.

It just means you have to use your brain when you read scripture, and not just pretend it's some "magic" book that doesn't have a single error or contradiction in it.

From the death of the apostles to this day; the traditions of men have become more and more part of the teachings of those who claim to be true churches.

This is made very clean in the first three chapters of The Revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ. Speaking to the first of seven churches in 2:6; the Lord speaks his hatred of the doctrine of the Nicolatitanes.

The doctrine of Nicolatitanes speaks of a clergy of traditions and controlling church order; placing themselves and their traditions between the laity (the congregation) and the word of God. They put themselves and their own ideas between the Bible and the Holy Spirit, while claiming the authority of both.

"'Blessed are the poor, in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek (towards God and his prophets and His word), for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye, when men shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad, for great is your reward in heaven; for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.'"
