Maybe the fact that the New Testament tells you many times that you cannot earn God's love, that you cannot earn a place in heaven yourself because to do that you'd have to be perfect (impossible) and so the only way there is through Christ might have something to do with it. Nobody likes being told they're not good enough. I agree it is the truth (Jesus was the only perfect Person) but the fact that it is so radically different from other religions because we teach that there is nothing you can do to earn God's love or increase it is one of the reasons why this is a sensitive subject, I think.

Because Jesus is a stumbling block - as many questions on YA reveal! Why, I don't always understand but its a spiritual problem not a human one.

^..^
__

I don't get your question.

I don't think any1 is stupid enough to have such reaction.
Maybe they're just fed up with others arguing about this thing over and over again. I don't think Buddhists or Muslims are concerned with attracting more clients to their religion. They mind their own business (except radicals...). I think it would be super if Christians did the same thing. Religion is not about convincing people. It's about believing deeply in something.

Are you feeling insecure about your believes?
Maybe that's what's making you paranoid.

ps: I'm not against Jesus in any way.

Oh you poor picked on misunderstood Christians.
How about picking the plank out of your eye before complaining about the mote of dust in mine.
Have you not looked around to see how the other religions get attacked even here.

Also most of the atheists are from a christian background and are a bit annoyed at the lies they were told by the Christians. They are angry at you cult followers for trying to convert the greatest liberal secular nation on earth into another fanatical theocracy.

Because we as Christians have a tendency to act out of turn . 1 bad apple ruins the bunch for certain people . Not that it's right to say to a Christian the things I have heard in the past . 2 wrongs certainly don't make a right .
Everyone is guilty of being human ...... Everyone .

Every religion has it's fanatics and fanatical enemies too. Christians used to slaughter muslims didn't they? We should all respect each others beliefs.

2 Corinthians 2
14Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

15For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

16To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

and

1 Corinthians 1

22For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

23But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

24But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
