Nope, not the only one! My friend and I went to the midnight premier and spent the next several days reading! =D We dressed up and everything!

I doubt it. I can't speak for atheist geeks, but I saw an awful lot of people at Borders last night, and when I gave up (before 10:30, my joints were aching too bad) there were people all over the floor reading other books, waiting patiently as they could manage, and there were costume contests and a long line at the coffee shop. They looked quite ready to go on all night. When I went back in the daytime to pick up my reserved copy, I still had to stand in a line, and the store was rolling out another cart-full of the books, along with the free posters they were giving out. My guess is that most of the people who bought it did not do much else until they had read it all the way through.
It is one of the best books I have ever read. And believe me, I've read an awful lot of books in my day. I'm 60 years old, and been a bookaholic since I was about four.

Well, I've never read any of the Harry Potter books; fantasy/sci-fi just isn't me. There's nothing wrong with it, however. A lot of Christians like fantasy, too: I'll bet they spend the whole day today reading their Bibles!

I didn't go to a release party this time, but I got the book at 10AM and it was read by 6 PM. Loved the book. I may have to go back and read them all again, now that the series is complete.

Could be.
I enjoy the Potter series, but I don't get fanatical about it...otoh, if you enjoyed the party & reading, more power to ya!

The first two chapters were horrendous, in the first chapter everything started with the word "the."
It's kind of okay now.
