It can be spiritual. But it is rather carnal when applied in certain context. Religion, is often the formed congregation of a religious body. They often go into 'religious affairs' with religious traditions. For the Muslims, the most typical example I can give is the differences between most Muslims and the Shiite Muslims. The Shiites are religious, but their traditions take away from the original intent of the Koran according to most Muslims that I have talked to.
In Christianity, we have the Protestants and the Roman Catholics ( for example) . Amongst both we have the carnal traditions of pointing to other things rather than God. The Roman Catholics have to trans substantiate thebody of Christ, and literally eat his flesh and drink his blood. The typical Protestant sees this as canibalism, and realizes that te so called 'sacraments' are but symbols, and in my opinion are right about the reason for doing it, To do this in memory of Jesus.
So religion might be spiritual, but there are carnal things that may be a part of a religion, or interpreted erroneously and are thus leaning carnal.

No. It is systemic in nature. Religions are institutions. They are marketing organizations to the max! Religions are usually against spirituality because spirituality is not dependant on religion. Therefore, because of this independent nature of spirituality, religion strives to undermine all compeditors regardless if those it deems compeditors... are in fact so.

If you define religion as the belief in the supernatural. And you define supernatural as a power greater than yourself then i believe the anawer is yes. I noticed you capitalized Spiritual,i'm not sure what that's all about, but i do think thier are bad spirits and good spirits, sometimes people who don't believe in God have powers greater than themselves which can be bad spirits, like drugs or sports even sometime or compulsive actions. And people who claim to be religous can have these bad spirits as well. Someone who lives a good life and loves well may not go to church and yet be filled with a good spirit.

I think it was meant to be spiritual in nature but then dogma and interpretation took over so much so that it eclipses the greater rewards of 'religion'. Namaste

Spirituality is the mother of all. Dogma can blind the one true eye. The Goddess is behind words and letters, but does not get caught up in them as they come and go.

Paradox again.
All religions, which are mostly pretty awful, by and large, contain the same essence of spirituality - which is pretty good!
