Free speech is a cornerstone of our society. What is currently shaping the future of America is the fact that we are losing that freedom.
Anytime anything is said by anyone, there is a chance that someone will be offended by it. Today we are seeing groups that I like to call the "vocal minority" raising red flags and bashing people for saying things that they find "offensive".
Legislating which speech is acceptable and which is not is taking a step toward eliminating free speech. Whether you like what someone has to say or not does not take away their right to say it, feel it, or believe it. You don't have to listen - you don't have to believe.
Free speech has cost a number of radio personalities, movie stars, and government officials their jobs and many thousands of dollars because someone was offended by what they said. Well, who cares if they are offended? There is no law in this country that prohibits offending people, and let's hope that there never will be.

Freedom of speech can go both way since we have alot of political correct groups on both sides telling us what we can and cant say. Our founding farther I am sure did not like everything that was said but they allowed it because it was something the believed in that everyone has the right to speak their mind and everyday we are falling away from what they truly wanted for our country. Its sad becase people have a right to their views no matter if its hate speech or not, and specal groups miss use the right at times to get what they want in this country.

John McCain is stopping freedom of speech with his campaign finance reform that was signed and supported by President Bush. People can no longer simply run ads that oppose or support a candidate. He and Bush see this as the future of America, to stop people from freely voicing their opinions and it looks to be working because only the Supreme Court has opposed them a little with some slight modifications. People seem pretty happy with McCain and Bush controlling their speech and limiting their expression.

There's absolutely no way to predict that. The most important thing is to keep free speech alive, so that when things do need changing, as they do today, the word will get out.

Freedom of speech needs to be protected at all costs. While I would l would love to shut the mouths of protesters and idiots, it would be worse to have their mouths shut. The fairness doctrine is an attack on this freedom and needs to be stuck down at all costs. The next thing you know there will be censorship.
